Description

Autumn Noble has mastered the art of survival. At twenty-seven, her world is defined by the needs of her young daughter, Sydney, and the grueling demands of a life built entirely on responsibility. Ravaged by the scars of a turbulent past, Autumn has shuttered her heart, convinced that romance is a luxury she cannot afford—and perhaps a gamble she isn't built to win. She is content in the quiet, predictable routine of single motherhood, having long ago traded spontaneity for safety. Then comes Winter. As vibrant and unpredictable as the seasons suggest, Winter crashes into Autumn’s shielded existence with a magnetic confidence that feels both terrifying and electric. She is a woman who chooses to bloom against the odds, and from their first encounter, she becomes determined to thaw the walls Autumn has carefully constructed. As they navigate the complexities of life, love, and the stinging remnants of betrayal, Autumn realizes she doesn’t have to choose between being a devoted mother and a woman who deserves to be adored. Sunflower is a tender, deeply human exploration of rediscovering joy after heartbreak, proving that it is never too late to let someone new cultivate the garden of your heart.

Good Read

Autumn is a single mom, focused on creating a good life with her mom and daughter despite the constant disappointment from her ex. She meets Winter, first as a neighbor, then as her child's teacher, and sparks fly. This was a solid read. I enjoyed Autumn and Winter. I loved the support of family on both sides, and the way they explored their feelings so readily with one another. Autumn's daughter was adorable and the side plot with her father was emotional and lent some layers to Autumn's story. I liked the progressiveness of the school, and the way Autumn and Winter treated their budding relationship with care. They also had great passion and I enjoyed that.

A Lesson in Learning

When I say I had a hard time putting this book down. It was beautifully written. It felt like I was in the story following along on the side. Autumn and Winter were a match made in heaven and the love they shared was steamy and wonderful. Syd was a wonderful little girl who understood love has no boundaries. This is a story I will read again.

“A Decent Read, But Left Me Wanting More”

I picked up Sunflower because of the title—Sunflower is actually my nickname, given to me by an ex because it’s my favorite flower. I didn’t read the description, just saw it recommended on Kindle Unlimited and went in blind. The story had potential, but it left a lot to the imagination—sometimes too much. I wanted more depth, more emotion, and a stronger connection to the characters. And the ending? It felt incomplete, like it needed just a little more to fully land. That being said, it was still a decent read, but not fully satisfying. If you enjoy LGBTQ+ stories and don’t mind open-ended storytelling, this might work for you. But if you prefer fully fleshed-out endings and deeper character exploration, you may feel a bit underwhelmed. And just a heads-up—Ben will have you ready to fight. 😂
