Description

Frankie has her life meticulously calibrated. As a high-achieving Black lesbian rugby coach, she relies on a rigid system—medication, rigorous team training, and a series of no-strings hookups—to keep her premiership-bound Titans on track. For Frankie, structure is the only thing keeping the chaos of life at bay. Jasmine is a woman on the run from her own history. Recently divorced and finally ready to live authentically, she moves to the picturesque town of Toulshire with her children, hoping to craft a quiet, honest fresh start. She isn't looking for romance, but a chance encounter with the magnetic, broad-shouldered Frankie leaves a lasting impression—until a midnight exit leaves Jasmine feeling burned. Their paths were never meant to cross again, let alone collide on the sidelines of a youth rugby pitch. When Jasmine’s son joins the Titans, the two women are forced into an intimacy they both tried to avoid. As walls crumble and hidden vulnerabilities surface, they are pushed toward a summer of seismic change. Caught between past patterns and the fear of getting hurt, Frankie and Jasmine must decide if they are spiraling toward a total breakdown or a breakthrough that changes everything.

My favorite book of the whole year!

I am going to have a hard time adequately explaining how much I loved this book. Before this book, my most highlighted book probably had like 5 highlights in it. I highlighted 48!!! passages in this one because they were just so beautiful and moving and I was absolutely obsessed. I mean: "Frankie wants to be around her, even if Jasmine's glaring at her. Isn't that what it's all about? Wanting someone to see you, even on your worst days? To sit with you as they kill you, because at least their hand will be the last thing you hold." Come on!! If you tell me you didn't swoon, I wont even believe you. It's like the best of instalove but also with a truly bonkers amount of pining (in the best way, I love pining so much). If you love when your MCs are truly into each other, like obsessively (but not creepily) into each other, then you need this one in your hands on its release day. It does also have its hard and its dark moments. Jasper does not pretend that Frankie's BPD doesn't exist, nor does falling in love "cure her". It's rough, and it's emotional, and my family asked me why I was sobbing into my phone earlier because I just loved these two so much and I need them to be the happiest they've ever been. These characters are going to live with me forever. And luckily, there's an amazing found family full of people that I think I'll get books for so I don't have to let them go!

Frankie & Jasmine are 🥹

Summer Breakdown was such a beautiful, heartwarming, angsty, sapphic romance. Frankie doesn’t believe she deserves love because of her Bipolar disorder. As Jasmine waltz into her life making Frankie feel safe and cared for she must confront her beliefs about love. Jasmine a single mom that is looking to start over, didn’t expect to find love in the elusive Rugby coach that has a hard time finding words to express herself. With patience and love she accommodates Frankie into her life in ways that will be hard to extricate. I loved the dynamic between these two, who seemed to always be making accommodations the other didn’t ask for. It’s the perfect summer read. Highly recommend it

Represented, Diverse , Romantic 🩷🥰

First off let me say the writing, the characters and the storyline was so intriguing. This story was not only romantic, but it was such a mature novel that offered diversity, representation and major events that was impactful and truly interesting. First off I love the first fmc within was Frankie, not only was her character a vulnerable perspective that was still relatable. Frankie's mental health diagnosis throughout the novel was not only representing Bipolar Disorders but it also allowed us to understand/connect with her emotions, her learning and understanding of herself and self esteem. Juggling those moments and feelings and still learning the ups/downs, the wants of various things and still maintaining those connections was truly emotion packed but still was worth the time reading through. Next our other fmc Jasmine. Jasmine is not only kind, but patient and loves the people in her life, the values she upholds and presents with her life, taking care of her career, her family, also understanding , and is a good mother. The relationship between Frankie & Jasmine was very steamy but still the attraction/connection was always there. Both made a good pair, not only were they understanding of one another but their personal experiences within life and their living allowed them to maintain their romance/the friendship aspects and what pushed them to be for one another ! Also let me say the support system within the family dynamics of Jasmine with her son Marcel and her…

Loved💞

Oh how I love J.S. Jasper! I don’t even know where to start because Summer Breakdown truly had me in my feelings. I flew through it and felt everything Jasmine and Frankie were going through. Their chemistry was undeniable and the way they showed up for each other made my heart melt. The bipolar II and disability rep was handled with so much care. It felt real and intentional. This story was soft, emotional, and had just the right amount of spice. Also, the cover is absolutely stunning. I’m giving this one a solid 4.5 stars! Thank you to Love Notes PR for the ARC.

Jasmine and Frankie

ARC Read I wanted to love this book. Sapphic sports romance? Count me in. Mental health representation? Love that! But the writing to me was so difficult to follow. I found myself rereading sentences and paragraphs to full understand what was going on. Now don't get me wrong, the plot was *chefs kiss* but I just couldn't get past the writing style. It was a good amount of spice though! Thank you again for allowing me to review this ARC!
