Description

When the past comes knocking, are some connections too strong to ever truly fade? After years of distance and separate paths, two women find themselves thrust back into each other’s orbits, forced to confront the history they left behind. What begins as an uneasy reunion quickly evolves into a tug-of-war between the comfort of old memories and the uncertainty of a new future. Set against a backdrop of emotional depth and nostalgic yearning, Still the One explores the nuance of human connection and the courage it takes to forgive. This isn’t just a story about falling in love—it’s about rediscovering the person you were when you were with them and deciding if that version of yourself still has a home in your heart today. Through sharp, authentic dialogue and a tender narrative, the story captures the messy, beautiful reality of second chances. Perfect for readers who crave a slow-burn romance that feels lived-in and real, this book serves as a poignant reminder that while time changes us, certain bonds are anchored in something permanent. It is a heartwarming testament to the idea that sometimes, the person you were meant to be with has been there all along.

Second Chances

I enjoy reading Harper Bliss books, and off all her books my favorite is ‘ once in a lifetime ‘ also about second chances. I loved ‘ still the one’ and it is my second favorite book. I loved how emotions were played out between both the characters, the feelings of love, betrayed, guilt and finally hope. People make mistakes, some mistakes are difficult to forgive let alone forget, how do we come out of it, how do we let it go, how do we stop feeling guilty, how do we let go of the hurt and build that trust and hope again.

Still the One ❤️

This was a beautiful story about love, betrayal, forgiveness, and starting over - told in the way only Harper Bliss can tell it. The story of Mac and Jamie is hauntingly beautiful. You learn of the couple from the past to the present and see their struggles in trying to reconcile who they are together. I felt so drawn into their relationship that I went through all the emotions with them and then had to let go of their past as well for myself! 😭 It got me 💘

What’s worse - being dumped or doing the dumping?

What’s a worse event in life - being dumped by “the one perfect love of your life ” or dumping “the one perfect love of your life”? Follow along on a steamy, angsty, heart rendering and heart fulfilling journey to find out the answer, if there is one. Harper Bliss takes a second chance romance to the extreme with the two main characters meeting up 20 years later at a wedding no less, where romance is the reason. The angst is the goldilocks version for me – not too little, not too much, just right. And since this is a romance, everyone gets a happy ending. Not being a fan of first person point of view, I struggled a little with the first person point of view, alternating chapters for each main character. The story was very good and I soon adjusted.

The beauty of forgiveness

Harper is one of the most eloquent authors and my all time favorite. She has a way of explaining thoughts and situations so one forgets they are reading but instead is folded into the experience itself. This novel is no different than her others, the story and characters beautifully developed and easily enjoyed. And, yes it’s spicy too! Loved it.

The most exasperating story

The storyline was a drama from the beginning and almost to the end. The characters Jamie and Mac were interesting and entertaining in a different way. So much background to their characters that I felt like I didn’t want to know the ending. I was extremely excited when Mac got out of her head and started thinking with her heart. The loops she put Jamie through would have made a saint cry,but thankfully you the author didn’t let me down because you are a really great artist with your stories and endings. Thank you for another amazing work of art.
