Description

In the mist-shrouded valleys where the River of Souls winds through time, a young scholar named Ren finds his quiet existence shattered by the arrival of a mysterious traveler, Kael. As the river’s rhythmic pulse dictates the lives of the villagers, Ren discovers that Kael carries a secret tied to the ancient, flowing currents—a secret that could either wash away their shared trauma or drown them both in forbidden depths. Set against a backdrop of ethereal landscapes and stagnant tradition, Song of the River's Heart explores the delicate friction between duty and desire. As Ren and Kael navigate the treacherous currents of their growing bond, they must confront the rigid expectations of a society that fears the unpredictable nature of love. The river acts not just as a setting, but as a silent witness to their vulnerability, challenging them to find courage in the face of isolation. This novel is a tender meditation on finding one's true course when life tries to force you into a preordained path. It is a story of magnetic attraction, emotional awakening, and the defiant choice to love against the tide, making it a compelling read for those who cherish atmospheric romances infused with heartfelt longing.

Great story

I loved this book and I wish that the second volume was coming out soon. It is on the trope of the main character dies and goes into a fantasy game but I like that there was actually consequences to him acting out of character. Also kind of refreshing because he doesn't remember every detail of the game so it makes it a little more difficult for him.

Interesting Start (no spoilers)

4.5 stars. This book is the first in what seems to be a 4-5 part series, but it's difficult to find information online other than a post from the cover artist. That post from the artist is how I found this book. The book self/indie published and is print on demand. The cover is glossy. Paper quality is similar to 7seas current prints: stark white and slightly see through. There is a clear inspiration from SVSSS in the premise and the love interest, but the author does a good job leaving it at that. It's a simple story so far with clear intentions to foreshadow bigger reveals in future installments. The protag is indeed a "cute little snack" and, although I'm not the biggest fan of the love interest, the author writes him in such a way that he's growing on me. There are a few errors, but overall it's a good story from a new(?) author. I will be looking for the next volume.

Pretty entertaining

I saw this in a forum and thought the premise looked interesting so I bought a copy immediately lol! Overall enjoyed, but this had some very strange grammatical errors that left me scratching my head as to what actually happened in a couple scenes. Protagonist was entertaining, but I’m not loving the ML so far? Plot points also kinda jump out in a way that veterans of the genre will clock immediately. TLDR: Nothing groundbreaking, but a fun read all the same. If grammer’s a huge deal breaker for you this might be a skip. If you have fanfiction/webnovel brain this is probably up your alley!

I Guess You Could Say I'm A Fan

I'm so glad I started reading this on a Friday night, I would have been in big trouble if I had to work the next day. Started at 8PM, couldn't put it down until I finished a little after 1AM, tired but satisfied. The book is clear in its inspirations and I think any fan of Seven Seas' danmei collection would love it. The MC is adorably naive as he fumbles through all the pitfalls of his transmigrated new life. The writing is clever and I found myself sensibly chuckling at some of the turns of phrase throughout the dialogue. The only issue I have, though a major one, is that book two isn't out and now I have to wait to see where the story goes. Hopefully my problem is fixed soon.
