Sweet, sexy, and emotional.
By now I've read everything TL Travis has ever written, from her PNR to her FF and everything in between. Girl Crush by her had been my absolute favorite...until I read Social Sinners. I immediately fell in love with the characters, the story, and the pure emotions behind the creation of this book.
While there is some hot sex, it falls to the side in comparison with the emotions and the central storyline following Joey and his best friend Ricky as they start their heavy metal band.
Both the main characters are unique and believable. Joey sometimes needs to be slapped because he is so STUBBORN, but that adds to the realism. Ricky is my favorite character, but I'm really curious to learn about Diamond's life in a future book.
As a rock n roll fan and part of the community, I love the detail and research Travis put into their touring and recording in the book. It made it seem like I was reading a bio about a real band as opposed to a fictional love story.
This is much more than a romance. It deals with death, abandonment, addiction, and so much more. If you love raw, real stories with deep characters that will evoke emotion as you read, buy this book ASAP. You won't regret it!
Travis' talent has grown by leaps and bounds, and I know that she's going to do great things in the future.
The Social Sinners, Joseph “Joey” and Ricky “Stoli”, never remembering a time when they weren't friends. Mick “Mickey” and Ethan “Diamond” joining them in high school. Outcasts for various reasons, when they started their garage band their name choice became obvious to them.
I kind of fell in love with this book. It details mostly Joey and Stoli. Their growing up together, best friends, inseparable. When they met Mickey and Diamond the story branched out more. When Joey met Lucas the gulf between him and Stoli started. They never really got back to the closeness they had for so long. Lucas was basically a creep. Didn't care for him at all. It almost felt like he was thrown in just to ratchet up the drama.
There was a lot of everyday details. Fleshing out the characters and giving the reader a bit of everyone's personalities. I took this book as a staging point for the rest of the series as it ended kind of abruptly. I'm looking forward to the rest of the books

Joey and Ricky/Stoli's story was filled with rockstar coming of age, second chance GOODNESS! Their story touched every single area that gave this story the full body of entertaining pleasure. The narrator was totally awesome. Each supporting character gave the story depth. Their story gets an A+ easily. It was a pleasure to lay back and have this story being read to me by an incredible narrator. I closed my eyes and pictured Social Sinners performing live on stage giving their fans their money worth. Also, the drama was all so good in this story. I highly recommend! ENJOY!

Loved being on tour with Social Sinners!
This was a story that hooked me from the start and never let me go! You get to see how this band was conceived by a few friends and watch as their star is launched - and launched it was! TL Travis did a fantastic job of describing the various scenes with the guys on and off the stage and I truly felt like I was touring with this band by the end of the story! This was a great start to a new series and I can't wait for more!! If you're a fan of rock star stories, then you don't want to miss this series! I highly recommend!!!
