Drama, coffee, food, and more drama
Slow Cooked Feelings is a very slow burn romance about two people who have serious communication issues. Noémie and Jordan have misconceptions about each other, which causes them to do stupid things that inadvertently hurt the other. But instead of talking, when trouble rears its head between them, they head in opposite directions. I understand they both have some deep-seated issues, which are very valid. I feel like so much drama could’ve been saved if they just talked. But, if they did, this would’ve been a short and sweet romance. Instead, we get to watch the process play out and try to enjoy the turbulent ride. I did enjoy the ride and I recommend this book. I listened to the audiobook version. Kingsley Rose narrated the book and I loved her work. Her character renditions are terrific.

I originally beta read the book back in fall 2025. I've been wanting to read the finished novel and now that I got the audiobook from the author, it was time to see what's the finished book like.
Slow Cooked Feelings is a companion book for French Pressed Love (2025). French Pressed Love tells the story of Jordan and Noémie from Jordan's point of view. While reading the first book, I wished I also had Noémie's POV because - let's be honest - I kind of hated her from the beginning. Noémie is the type of character, if you don't get her POV, you first hate her and then learn to like or even love her. She's very difficult character to like in a romance. French Pressed Love left me without answers. What motivated Noémie to do what she did?
Slow Cooked Feelings gave answers to my questions and more. I don't know if the author planned to write Noémie's POV all along (when writing FPL). Slow Cooked Feelings fills the gaps and fits well next to the original book. It explains things and actions while keeping true to the original story of French Pressed Love. You get to know why Noémie does what she does. You learn more about her struggles with her sexuality and about the toxic relationship with her parents. SCF explains A LOT, and it's worth reading especially if you struggled liking French Pressed Love because of Noémie.
After reading both books, I like Slow Cooked Feelings more because I really wanted to like Noémie in FPL but just couldn't do it based on what we got in the first…

Complex characters, Canada, WLW
Chaotic femme energy, WLW romance, Canadian food scene, messy self-reinvention, and a slow-burn situationship with a barista who is emotionally unavailable and irresistible (aren't they all?).
What It’s About:
Noémie St. Pierre has one dream: Open her own restaurant. Her father is the powerful, controlling owner of the Poutine Heaven empire and he claims he’ll help her…as long as she behaves like the daughter he wants. When he discovers that Noémie is dating a woman, he cuts her off financially and emotionally, derailing her career and her life.
Freshly dumped, directionless, and spiraling, Noémie reconnects with her long-standing crush: Jordan, the enigmatic barista from a local café. Jordan is closed-off, afraid of failure, and barely letting herself have dreams, let alone a relationship. But as Jordan slowly steps into her own power, Noémie is inspired to do the same. Their chemistry is undeniable…but can Noémie handle Jordan’s guardedness? And can Jordan truly let herself be loved?
What I Loved:
🍲 The WLW romance at the center. It’s tender, slow, and grounded in two women trying to grow.
🌆 The Canadian food scene. The sensory richness, the kitchen culture, the ambition, it's all vivid and delicious.
🩶 A genuinely character-driven arc about breaking cycles. Noémie must unlearn familial expectations, confront her worst habits, and build self-worth outside of her father’s approval.
🌧️ Jordan’s interiority (from what we glimpse). Knowing this novel is the…
