Description

Evan’s life has transformed from an ordinary existence into a whirlwind of magic, romance, and café management. After finally feeling settled with his five devoted partners, the fragile peace of Bremloc shatters, forcing Evan and his men to flee into the unknown. Their journey leads them to the most unlikely of sanctuaries: the Shadow Realm, ruled by the formidable Demon Lord Onyx. Sinking into the heart of enemy territory brings its own set of perils. Tensions boil over as Evan’s men struggle to coexist with the enigmatic demon lord, whose reputation for ruthlessness makes trust a scarce commodity. As if navigating delicate interspecies politics weren't enough, Evan discovers he harbors a rare, dangerous magic that has marked him as the ultimate prize for ruthless mercenaries hunting from the shadows. To complicate matters, the heart wants what it wants. Evan finds himself drawn to Onyx with a magnetic pull he can’t deny—the Demon Lord is his newest fated mate. As he grapples with this discovery, he faces a daunting ultimatum: can he bridge the gap between his protective partners and the man who should be their greatest foe, or will the weight of their conflicting worlds tear his newfound family apart?

A Truly Excellent Installment

So after the cliff hanger ending of book 5, Evan and his men are back in one of the best books in this series so far. This book is pure catnip to fans of the series as we finally get the answer on who harem member #6 is (not a huge surprise but a very welcome confirmation). It also brings all of the spice and sweet moments that have defined the characters and their relationships through all six books. Falsely accused and hounded by mercenaries, Evan seeks sanctuary with Lord Onyx, ruler of the Shadow Realm. Those closest to him are targeted by the same enemies and also seek refuge there, with the added complication of five of those people being knights of Bremloc and sworn enemies of Onyx, his armies and all the denizens of the place they must now call their temporary home. I liked that the enmity between all these people was still very present (no one is magically forgetting old grudges) but the way they worked through everything was realistic. This book also ends somewhat in the middle of things, but that just makes me look forward to Book 7 all the more.

The books are good but…

I love this series so much even the way they ended. Cliffhangers stringing you to the next. But after re-reading this series. I feel like there are scenes in it that are missing and I loved. Even the way the books ended are different. Granted I did reread this book last year. But the scene with Maddox, Briar and Evan. There was another that they had intercourse with just them. Maddox rimmed Briar while Evan rode him. I LOVED that scene because it was one where I felt they really connected and Briar let go. There was also a scene where they said they were cuddling before letting Evan going to Lake. I just….it feels weird not having a certain scene that I loved. Or even the endings. I wonder if I purchase the hardbacks if they would have the old endings. I hope so.

I’m picky with 5s

This whole series is a 5. I’m so picky with handing out 5 star reviews but this series has me in a strangle hold so tight!! I want the next one in my hands SO bad right now. For real, the story is engaging and I’m not bored once throughout. Usually on book 6 I’m quitting because the story line has failed. There’s only one other series that I love as much as this. For real, I know the author has a life but if she would put it to the side to finish that would be great…jk, or am I?

yay demon daddy

I blew through the first 5 books and have been impatiently waiting for this book! It did not disappoint! I love the banter and quirkiness of the characters and I can’t wait to see how the newest addition to the harem settles in because my heart hurts for him. I also reallllllly can’t wait for harem member number 7 to show up if he hasn’t already (pretty sure he has). I did miss our lil kitty in this book and I hope he comes back in book 7!
