This series is one of my all-time favorites and Saving the Rain is a wonderful addition. I’ve had a soft spot for Kayce since the beginning of the series and I’m so happy to see him finally get his HEA.
This book checks off so many of my favorite tropes. Stepbrothers? Yes! Grumpy and swoon-worthy cowboys? Yes, please! Tender and emotional moments? Of, course! Small town setting with characters that I would love to sit around a bonfire with? I’m there!
Kayce and Raine shared a childhood with parents that were selfish and abusive. Kayce idolized his older stepbrother, Raine, from the moment they first met. Kayce always thought Raine hated him, and he couldn’t understand why. What did he do to make Raine treat him the way he did? Little did he know that wasn’t the case.
When we first met Kayce in the beginning of this series, he was Layla’s drunk ex-boyfriend. He did redeem himself slightly at the end of Chasing the Wild and I had a feeling there was more to his backstory. And I finally had all my questions answered with Saving the Rain. Over the course of this series, we see him trying to get his life together. He’s forging new friendships and he’s determined to do better…be better.
And then there’s the grumpy Raine. Raine thought he put Kayce and that life behind him when he was finally able to leave home. He never expected to be standing face-to-face with Kayce again. He also didn’t expect to suddenly have thoughts about the man he absolutely should not have.
Kayce and…

Read this, don’t listen to it.
Great story, 1/2 horrible narration. I’m writing this long after i listened to it but I still regret spending $ for this. Take my advice & just read it. The narrator that did Raine’s voice …in his chapters when he did kayce’s voice, were awful. It was akin to listening to smeagol in lord of the rings. Whispery & creepy. Just don’t, it will ruin the whole book. I found myself vacillating between laughing & cringing & then just turning it off because I couldn’t handle the cringey voice. That being said, please read it, it’s a great book!!!
I LOVE THEM, I mean how can I not love them.
It is a beautifully written steamy cowboy love story between 2 drool worthy Bronc riders. It has everything I look for in Elliott's books. God the PASSION, the lust, the big feeling, injuries, snowed in nights, self doubt, mental health, and lots of sweet & steamy moments, big confessions and relationships struggles, plus healing from both MMC man it was everything I needed in this book.
If you wanted to read a story about people accepting their loved ones for who they are no matter what, yeah this book is for you and honestly the entire Crimson Ridge series!
Kayce the newly sober broken boy who is constantly fighting with his past demons and a new realization about his sexuality, and then coming to terms with it, I just wanted to hug him and be there for him in that mountain.
Raine is this grumpy, scowling cowboy, with a big heart, and soft spot for his sweet boy Kayce who loves his hand necklaces and that filthy mouth that had him melting every time.
Loved watching these two fall in love, grow and for Kayce to finally have that connection he was craving and didn't know he need it and only to find it with his brooding "stepbrother" Raine

Can’t wait to see what Elliot Rose does next!

I'm so torn with this one. By the end I wanted to give it 5 stars. But honestly its like a 3.5. The 1st 58% of the book killed me. It was so slow and full of so much repetitive inner monolog that I found myself skimming the pages because you could fill in the blanks. I almost DNF'd a few different times. But that last portion of the book was beautiful. I loved Kayce and Raine together. The fact that Raine was just what Kayce needed to push himself to fight for himself, it was very well written. I wish I could give it 5 stars. Just know if you can push through it, the ending is great.
