Description

Connor Whitlock is stuck. After following his girlfriend, Thalia, to law school in San Diego, he feels like a fish out of water—homesick, restless, and disconnected from the soccer career he left behind in Sacramento. When he discovers an impromptu beach soccer game, he finds a much-needed outlet, and his camera lens fixes on Dane Calvo: a tall, magnetic, and unabashedly gay forward who challenges everything Connor thought he knew about himself. The discovery that Dane is actually Thalia’s brother—and his new housemate—turns Connor’s world upside down. Dane is everything Connor isn’t: guarded, messy, and hiding his truth from a conservative family. While Connor stubbornly clings to the label of "straight," the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore. As they form an unlikely bond through soccer training, the lines between mentor and muse begin to blur, forcing both men to confront the secrets they keep from their families and their own hearts. Set against the sun-drenched backdrop of Southern California, Salt is a simmering exploration of self-discovery and the friction of forbidden attraction. It is a story about finding your place—and your people—in the most unexpected of bedrooms.

⚽️How could the universe create my perfect man and give him to my sister?📸

"How could the universe create my perfect man and give him to my sister?" "I don't like your dad, you know. When I'm nice to him, it's only to be cordial. I don't like him, and I don't like how he treats you. I think you deserve a lot better." "I'm not a pathological liar. I can tell the truth. I'm just constantly surrounded by people looking for reasons to use the truth against me. If they don't know what the truth is, they can't hurt me." "But when do you get to be yourself?" "When I'm by myself, I guess. I never lie to myself." "It would be easier if Connor weren't off-limits. If I had met him before Thalia did, I would have made him my whole world." "You're the only person in this house that I care about. Even more than I care about myself, I care about you. Whatever you want from me, you can have it." "Dane is the special one. There's a whole world inside his beautiful body, and I want to know every part of it, even the parts that might scare me." "I love you, Connor," I tell the easiest person in the world to love. "I love you too." He says to the most difficult. "Something I can still hardly wrap my head around. But when I think back to the day we met, I chose him as much as he chose me, like it was destiny we wound up in each other's paths." "Do you think it's possible for one person to change who you are?" "I think that's why people exist, puppy. To change each other. For better or worse." I have been waiting for this book and it didn't disappoint at…

loved it

I loved this. It's his girlfriend's brother, they all live in the same house, so many it's all kinds of complicated! Connor is so sweet and sensitive, he deserves someone that's gonna love and nurture him. And Dane? I just do not understand how people treat him. Sure he's sometimes prickly, but it's because he's just waiting for the next way he will be hurt. And he's so loveable. Not only does this have a bi-awakening, which I always enjoy, it's also super hot. They did not have an easy road but they couldn't stay away from each other and it was such a good story.

I could have kept reading their story for hundreds more pages...

This is the first time I've written a book review. I felt compelled to write this because as I finished Salt I found myself thinking I would love to continue reading about Connor and Dane for hundreds more pages. That's not typical for me. I usually finish one book and am ready to move on to the next. Then I went back to read what I had written after reading Sweat (I keep a spreadsheet where I track and write up every book I've read) and found: "This was really, really good and is only the first book by the author (or at least the first book listed on Amazon). There's a synopsis for the next book at the end and it looks good too so I'm hoping this will be an author I can follow and enjoy for a long time. This is a book where I would totally read a 2nd or even 3rd book about the same couple. I could have kept reading their story for hundreds more pages." So I had to share. Because the fact that there are only two books listed on Amazon by the author and both made me want to keep reading the story for hundreds more pages, that's pretty special. I fell in love with Connor and Dane and the relationship between the two. Both are so human and neither fits into a typical mold. Dane can be brash and confident and bold and also bashful and sensitive and vulnerable and we saw all of it. We also saw so many sides to Connor. He was so caring and polite, with moments of insecurity, but also had a sense of justice that had him standing up for Dane when no one had before. And once he…

Reader Review

I devoured this book and never lost interest. The lighthearted moments, tension building, and the dynamic between Dane and Connor kept me engaged. Dane is my favorite. He’s funny, standoffish, secretly soft, and given wonderful development through the book. He has been through so much, and watching him try to just get by while receiving all the love and support from Connor was really special. The tension building was done well, with hints of Dane's past that kept me wanting to know more about what trauma our poor boy has been through. The spice, the sweet intimate moments balanced with Dane’s unhinged sense of humor were perfect. I also loved the side characters: Margot, Connor’s parents, Randy. And I was excited to see our boys Rowan and Tommy show up again. This story also reflects the struggle and triumph of navigating the ups and downs while trying to rebuild familial relationships after traumatic events. My only small critique is that I would have liked the book to delve just a little bit deeper into those aspects. Overall, a great read.
