Description

Rava Weston has spent his entire life playing the part of the dutiful son. Trapped under the thumb of his controlling family, he harbors a simple, secret ambition: to leave the shadows of his father’s expectations behind and become a teacher. He is a man defined by obedience, existing solely to serve his parents’ rigid design. Then enters Gio Fontana, a man who lives in total defiance of every rule Rava holds sacred. Reckless, magnetic, and tied to a reputation that keeps local law enforcement on high alert, Gio is the antithesis of everything Rava is supposed to be. Their history is paved with friction and animosity, but back home in Italy, the atmosphere shifts. The old, familiar hate begins to sharpen into a lethal, undeniable hunger. As their paths collide, the tension between them evolves into a dangerous, forbidden obsession that threatens to unravel the carefully constructed walls of Rava’s reality. Torn between his lifelong role as the compliant child and the electric pull of a man he was never meant to know, Rava faces a terrifying realization. Choosing Gio isn't just an affair—it is the first true act of rebellion in a life of silence, and it may be the only choice that sets him free.

Agggh! Yes!

This is one of my favorites lgbtq books every! It's so cute and I'm literally at the edge of my seat squealing so much! I love these characters and I LOVE that this book doesn't feel rushed. It's got spice but not every few seconds and you definitely gotta wait for it. It's so worth it. It's so freaking cute! AFTG is still my top one, but I think this is my second favorite so far. I'm so excited to read the next two books, and I'll definitely be buying the paperbacks just so can have them on my shelf. The writing is simple but not in a bad way. It fits the story. I love it. The author also leaves little notes that I think are adorable because they seem nervous or something about their work? I can't tell, but I like it. It feels like they're also invested with their book and like the author is quickly explaining some things with you.

Great Story with Uneven Writing

I love the characters in this story. The author did a great job creating two distinct, original characters, and I wanted to learn more about them. I'm looking forward to reading the second part. Where this story falls a little short for me isn't the narrative but some of the technical writing. In places it feels slightly under-edited. For example, there are moments where a scene pauses with a break labeled “Two Hours Later.” A simple transition sentence could communicate the passage of time more smoothly without interrupting the flow of the scene. There are also some dialogue formatting issues. Typically when one character speaks, their line is in its own paragraph. When another character replies, a new paragraph begins so the dialogue stays clear and distinct. In some places here, multiple characters speak within the same paragraph, and sometimes a character speaks, a new paragraph begins, and the same character continues talking. This occasionally made it difficult to track who was speaking. The story is still readable and enjoyable, but these moments sometimes caused a bit of confusion. I will note that if the novel was originally written in another language, the story does take place in Italy, and the author translated it into English, that could explain some of the formatting issues and make them easier to overlook. Overall, these are just observations from someone who reads a lot and would love to see more from this author in the future. If these things don’t…
