Description

Inheriting a crumbling historic hotel sounds like a dream until Rick Thatcher realizes the Haven is a financial sinkhole operating as a base for a spirited group of live-in escorts. Rick agrees to let the charming, chaotic crew stay, but maintaining the Haven requires constant vigilance and sacrifice. Between chasing down funds and keeping his rambunctious residents in line, Rick has long ago crossed romance off his list. Enter Eliot Walker, a man stepping out of his sheltered past and into a bold new chapter of his life. Nervous and uncertain, Eliot arrives at the Haven seeking someone to guide him through his first authentic experiences as an openly gay man. His plan was to hire a stranger for the night, but when he meets Rick, he encounters the exact kind of man he hoped to find yet never dared to expect. For Rick, one glance at Eliot shatters his resolve to remain detached. What begins as a fleeting, intimate encounter sparks a connection that refuses to be confined to a single night. However, behind the hotel’s peeling paint and fading charm, mounting threats loom over both their budding relationship and the future of the Haven itself. Can they build something lasting, or will reality tear them apart?

Rick isn't an escort like the other guys...

Rick, of ‘Rick: Love at the Haven’ by Stella Shaw, isn’t an escort like the other guys who work out of the Haven Hotel, but one quiet night when Eliot, a gorgeous young man, walks through the hotel door, he finds himself wishing he were. Eliot has received a gift card for a session at the Haven from his ex-fiancée, explaining that Eliot needs to find out once and for all if he is gay or not. Reluctantly, he walks through the doors, trying to hide his naivete. In an effort to put him at ease, Rick takes him aside to explain the procedure and the rules of his establishment. Eliot doesn’t know that Rick isn’t an escort himself. Eliot decides that he is the one he wants to show him the ropes. Discreetly, Rick tries to steer him toward someone more suitable but Eliot will not be dissuaded. Rick doesn’t want to embarrass Eliot; besides, since he is so attracted to Eliot anyway, he figures why not pretend to be an escort. After all, it is just for one night. What happens between them is far more than either of them expects. Eliot is a fast learner and besides the tutelage Eliot receives, they experience a strong emotional connection. After their encounter, Rick can’t get Eliot off his mind. The other guys realize something is up, especially Arne. While trying to get Rick to open up, he reminds him how much he has done for the men who work as escorts and how grateful they are for his help. Still, Rick hesitates to confide in him. When Arne suggests that he needs sex and refers to…

Sweet

Sometimes a series will dwindle as it goes along, but this one is doing the exact opposite! Rick might be the second book in the series, but it can definitely be read alone. It's well worth it, too! I adored both characters and greatly enjoyed watching them grow together and find how they fit into each other's worlds. There was a lot more story in this second installment and I'm very pleased with it. Where the first book came across a bit dry, this one carries you through with emotion shared with the characters and makes you not want to put it down until you've devoured it whole. I'm excited to see what part three has in store for us and the characters we'll get to known next.

I'm Loving This Series. Rick and Eliot are Wonderful.

This is a sexy and sweet book. The MCs are good together. Having read all the books so far in the series, these are my favourite combo. The more books I read, the more I love Rick and Eliot, so I'm bumping the rating up to 4.5 stars which I'm rounding up to 5. They're just such nice guys in general. There's also a good story going on in the background but I won’t spoil it with those details. Stella Shaw manages a tug at the heartstrings as well as delivering chemistry, sexy times, and lovely camaraderie in Rick. Also, Lizzie? You’re a gem! On top of the MCs, it was nice to revisit Arne, looking forward to his story, Tom, Micah, Liam, Piotyr as well. It was also nice to see Dante being such a good friend to Rick and his ex colleagues at the Haven. I like the whole friends as family vibe in my stories and you can build on that more within a series, which Shaw is doing nicely in the “Haven” series. On to Micah next. If you like escorts/rent boys with heart. If you like a virginal character with a more experienced man, an age gap, this is some very enjoyable, sweet, sexy, intimate reading. 4.5 Stars!

Nice quick read

Not a very long story but got everything you might look for in a romance. The story is not complicated, but it is great in its simplicity if you just want a quick feel good story to unwind. Low angst characters, interesting setting, mediun high heat index with a happily ever after.

voluntary review of arc Rick: Love at the Haven is the second book in the series by author Stella Shaw. This series just keeps getting better and better. I love the connection and emotions in this book. I am so hooked on this series! Rick his aunt left him a run-down hotel. The only frequent visitors to the hotel are escorts. They are caring people who wanna help so he doesn’t mind. He has zero time to breathe let alone have a romantic connection to someone. But he cannot resist the newest edition to the family. Eliot is fresh-faced, naïve, and brave. He is looking to finally explore his sexuality. He is hoping he can learn and be an escort for a while to help him achieve his goal. Though he wants someone special to teach him first. I loved how innocent Eliot is. He is a breath of fresh air. I loved this story it is really sweet, steamy, and emotional. I cannot wait to read more from this series in the future. I do suggest reading these books in order. They all connect in some way or another. Five Shooting Stars
