Description

Francesca “Chessy” Azar has inherited a poisoned chalice. When her billionaire father’s funeral concludes in a literal inferno, she is left not only with a sprawling, crumbling empire but also an unwanted spotlight on her private life. Besieged by predatory lawyers and long-lost half-siblings emerging from the woodwork, Chessy decides to invite her father’s former lovers and their kin to live at the estate, hoping to orchestrate a radical act of reconciliation to overwrite her family’s toxic history. Enter Blodwen “Bunny” Rees, the manor’s new house manager. With a soft-spoken demeanor and a gaze that misses nothing, Bunny appears to be the perfect anchor in the chaos—until her own hidden agenda surfaces. Far from being a mere employee, Bunny hasn't arrived at Azar Manor to manage the household; she has arrived to settle a score. As Chessy struggles to navigate the vultures circling her fortune, the tension between her and Bunny shifts from professional to dangerously intimate. Caught between the wreckage of her heritage and an unexpected, electric pull, Chessy faces a devastating choice: secure the legacy she was groomed to protect, or surrender it all to the woman who might be the architect of her ultimate undoing.

history full of conspiracy and assertiveness.

I was snagged by the intense speculation and emotional uncertainty straight away. The combination of heritage drama, hidden motives, and slow-building interest provides the story with a clear edge. It stands out for its layered characters and particularly Chessy and Bunny, whose conflicting purposes keep the stakes high and the history full of conspiracy and assertiveness.
