Hands (of Fate) Down my Favorite Clio Evans Book
There's two very clever themes written in this series, but I didn't notice them until this third book. First, and most important, these books are written about the Old Gods and Monsters of Greco-Roman Parthenon, and as such, written in a style that reflects the major greek theatrical principles. There's a bit of sadness and quite a bit of comedy, and classic tragedy. Not sure how satyrical theater will come into play, but may I need to re-read. 2nd, this book specifically is written for the tired hero (or heroine). I loved how one of the very hardest myths for women readers has been elevated to a hard-won HEA. Reclamation, Love and self-Acceptance are major themes that I think Evan's celebrated well through the story. I think I highlighted one too many sections of this book because I loved it so much. Also, SPICE score is through the roof on this one, with some unbelievably cathartic scene play. This was an awesome book and I can't wait to read the next one.
A Fun Twist to the Source Material
So many great moments in this sapphic twist to Medusa’s tale. Perseus was meant to behead Medusa, but instead she fell for her. Thousands of years go by, their paths continuously cross, but the walls remained firmly in place. Until it’s revealed they’re meant to be together, fated mates.
The plot with Queens and Monsters has been my favorite of the three I’ve read so far, I craved for the next update, twist, reveal.
As always, the spice is HOT but the best scene had to be Percy feeding Mads notes in front of those who wronged them. I nearly burst into tears along with the pair.
Can’t wait to read book four!
This was the best Medusa retelling I’ve read! Well written. Interesting plot. Lots of twists. Action. Spice (lots of awesome spice). And thru it all a beautiful love story for the ages. Will Medusa get her happy ending? Definitely recommend reading to find out!
Sapphic romances are right up my alley, but I’m a bit disappointed with Clio and their writing for this book. I didn’t feel the same connection to the characters as I did with the other two books in this series. Or with her other series. The smut was just subpar and honestly didn’t do it for me. I love their books and how they write them, but I am just disappointed with the outcome of this one. Hopefully the fourth is better???
I’m not sure what I was expecting going into this (I read this one first out the gate) but Clio has really outdid herself here. I loved this one so much. The dynamic, the yearning. Was it perfect? No. Am I gonna give it less than 5 stars tho? Also no. Because I was highly entertained and enthralled. Percy and Madeleine were both perfect to ME. A domme daddy and a tsundere sub? Bring it all the time. Seeing how protective and just ugh Percy was even over her name was chefs kiss. Inject this into my veins.
