Description

Harley Plotkin has officially hit rock bottom. After a chaotic blunder destroys a high-profile fashion shoot and costs her friend his livelihood, she is desperate to make things right. Her penance? Ten weeks of indentured servitude as the personal assistant to Santana Torres, a legendary fashion designer with a reputation for being colder than an Arctic winter and twice as demanding. Harley expects to be fetching designer espressos and dodging verbal grenades in the high-stakes world of Manhattan couture. What she doesn’t expect is for a compromised tabloid photo to force her and the icy fashion mogul into a high-profile fake dating scheme. It is meant to be a simple, cold-blooded business transaction—no attachments, no drama, and definitely no romance. But as the pair travels from the frantic ateliers of NYC to the glamorous runways of Paris, the lines between professional necessity and genuine spark begin to blur. Harley was hired to survive the boss from hell, but she soon discovers that Santana is just as unpredictable as she is intimidating. In this sharp, witty, and heartwarming sapphic romance, two opposites navigate a minefield of public scrutiny and private discovery, proving that falling for the wrong person might just be the best mistake they ever make.

Awesome book

I love reading books by these two authors. This book is awesome! I can actually see which author created each of the main characters. Looking forward to the next collaboration of their next book.

A Markinson/Macleod collab is never a disappointment! Funny, heartfelt, keeps you invested in the story from the 1st page to the last.

Who's the Comedian?!

A well structured story with great characters. The main character is hilarious! Common challenges about love and fear. Loss and betrayal. Who wins? One of my faves?!

It was enjoyable until....

I was enjoying the book until food from a particular place was mentioned. Considering the current climate, why??? Also, I found Jade to be annoying. I get her concern but she kept going on and on and on. From someone who is in an on/off situationship, she has too much opinion on Harley's life. But for those points, I enjoyed it. There was no third act break-up. That I appreciated. It's been a while since I read through an entire book and didn't skip to the end. Overall, good read.

High Fashion Faux Pas

T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod add another hit to their ever-expanding roster - and "Not Today Satan" is a heavenly addition! Harley Plotkin is a gifted and creative chef, who cannot hold a job. Because Harley Plotkin doesn't plan her life, doesn't pay a lot of attention to the necessary details of life, maybe just doesn't care enough. That's why, when best friend Dustin calls last minute, asking her to be a substitute assistant that day, for an important fashion photo shoot, Harley says yes - because not only has she been couch surfing for too long, but she's gotta get enough dough to be able to pay rent! At the shoot site, Harley catches her first glimpse of the notoriously talented, famous, and irrascible designer, Santana Torres. And on top of all that, Torres "might have been a goddess in a former life, or perhaps now"! But also the quintessential "ice queen". Dustin warns Harley "don't make eye contact with her, don't speak unless spoken to...". What the heck! Anyway, it's all business, all good, until Santana Torres rips a temp assistant a new one, over a mistake with the Manolos. That's when Harley just has to call her out - "you're a bully ... engaging in public humiliation like it's a blood sport". Right after that, everything falls apart - clothing racks topple, lighting rig falls into fragile fabrics, triggering a fire. That disaster ends the shoot. Dustin gets fired (for having brought Harley in the first place). Guilty, Harley presents herself to Santana,…
