Description

In a world where dreams are currency and nightmares can be commodified, Kaelen makes a living as an elite dream-weaver with a dark specialty: he sells manufactured terror to those who need to scare their enemies into submission. He is cold, calculated, and perfectly content existing on the fringes of society, tucked away in the shadows of his own creation. But business takes an unexpected turn when he is hired for an assignment that defies his usual moral ambiguity. As his paths collide with a captivating stranger, the professional distance Kaelen prides himself on begins to fracture. What starts as a simple contract slowly unravels into a high-stakes game of vulnerability, trust, and undeniable attraction. The line between dream and reality blurs as he discovers that the most dangerous hauntings aren't the ones he manufactures, but the ones he starts to feel for another person. Blending atmospheric urban fantasy with a deeply tender romance, Nightmare for Hire explores the intoxicating weight of human connection. It is a slow-burn journey that proves even the most guarded hearts cannot outrun the light. Prepare to be swept away by this spellbinding tale where cozy, intimate moments shine brightest against the backdrop of a hauntingly magical world.

So Moving!😭

Sorry for the spoilers!!! Don’t hate me!!! It’s so touching and beautiful to see how the two leads fall in love. I also love how they switched up the monster/human profiles. Seriously! Who expected that a sparkly cotton candy, bubblegum, Barbie boy was actually a ditzy but dangerous Nightmare in disguise? I especially loved how the other male lead learns how to love himself and opens up about his trauma. So freaking awesome! We need more feel good/steamy romance stories like this.

TRIGGER WARNING!!!!

Please pay attention to the content warning at the verycfron if the book. I did not and when Cyrus is SA at the very beginning if the book I was really uncomfortable and I don’t even have trauma related to that. It’s one scene and it’s over pretty quick but for me it was almost too much and totally gave me the ick. Honestly just read the content warning and then skip it. The rest if the book is better but it started me off on the wrong foot. I took a star away for that unpleasant experience. That level of detail just wasn’t needed. The rest if the story is a sweet romance with lots of hurt/comfort. I really liked that Nox went as slow as Cyrus needed him to and was completely content really just being near Cyrus. It was beautiful to see. Heat level a 2.5/5? Nothing super scandalous. It was pretty hot when Cyrus had to teach Nox about live making. I like this series but I also feel like something’s missing? Like there could/should be more depth to the story? It’s a good read, not a great read but I enjoy learning about the monsters and the romances are sweet.

What a cute and emotional story.

I absolutely adored the two. Nox's enthusiasm and love, Cyrus finding himself. What a journey. There is little drama between the two and I loved that. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. There is some spice (this is a verse couple, yay!), lots of kisses and cuddles. And the found family keeps on getting bigger. There is also hurt/comfort and it is done beautifully. Cannot wait to read more stories by the author.

Neon glitter and happy nightmares

This was such a cute book, even though Cyrus's backstory is absolutely tragic. Nox was absolutely adorable but also somewhat exhausting for my introverted self. Did think the final confrontation with Cy's ex felt a bit rushed, but he definitely got what he deserved.

Weird Unnecessary Trauma Story

A cute story, I love the nonbinary babe, ended up surprising me that he’s the nightmare. Overall a feel good story, but unnecessarily serious trauma sprinkled in, when it could have been acknowledged and alluded to instead of constant talk about being sex trafficked. Weird addition. Totally could have had that backstory without making it such a huge feature of the story. Just seemed like an out of place aspect of the narrative.
