Description

Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about romance, but for Mia, it is the setting for a public disaster. When she is unceremoniously dumped in the middle of a crowded restaurant, the last person she expects to see is Colleen. They share a complicated history, a tangle of baggage, and a past that neither has truly managed to outrun. Seeing Mia vulnerable and alone, Colleen realizes that destiny might be offering them a rare opportunity to rewrite their story. This heartfelt second-chance romance captures the electric tension between two women who once meant everything to each other. What begins as a chance encounter over a ruined evening quickly evolves into a journey of rediscovery, proving that sometimes the best way forward is to revisit the person who knew you best all along. Balancing the weight of old wounds with the undeniable pull of deep-seated chemistry, this story moves from the bitterness of a breakup to the warmth of a long-awaited reunion. Whether you love the slow burn of friends-to-lovers narratives or the intensity of a rekindled flame, this short, punchy contemporary tale delivers a satisfying emotional payoff that proves love is always worth a second look.

Great story!

Wow, for a short book, roughly 50 kindle pages, this packed a lot in! There was a meet cute, some baggage and history to get over, some “nah she only likes me as a friend” while everybody around does a double-take, some getting together, some trouble in paradise, a third party who saves the day… I mean, it was like a whole novel just on fast forward or something. I’d just been griping that nothing I’ve read between 10 and 50 pages quite hit the mark — there’s always something holding me back from an enthusiastic recommendation. But while this only barely squeaks into that range, I think I’ll count it just so I can say I’ve finally got a short story I’d be happy to recommend. Plus, it’s Valentines themed! So it can go along with The Perfect Match in my favorites for that as well. All in all, I’m quite happy I found it. :)

From bully to girlfriend!

Colleen runs into Mia in a restaurant on Valentine's Day and witnesses her girlfriend very publicly breaking up with her. Grabbing this second chance, Colleen convinces Mia to go have a drink where she apologises for her bullying behavior as a child. Colleen comes from very unaccepting, ignorant and bullying parents where as Mia comes from a very warm and loving mother Juanita who is a social worker. I think because of Mia's nurturing environment, she is able to forgive Colleen more quickly than the average person. This helps propel their relationship forward quite quickly. My favorite line in this book is when Mia's mom says to Colleen, "Your parents took away your childhood, don't let them take away your adulthood." I enjoyed this novella but only wish it could have been longer!

This arousing series has been really great for the past group of stories. The following was well written and quite interesting to read.
