Description

Working as an executive assistant to the notoriously demanding and ice-cold Elena Vance, Maya thinks she knows exactly what to expect from her nine-to-five. But when a mysterious stalker begins targeting Elena, the boundary between professional distance and personal obsession starts to crumble. Caught in the crosshairs of a dangerous game, Maya finds herself stepping out of the shadows of the office to become Elena’s unexpected protector. As the threats against her boss escalate, the proximity required to keep Elena safe forces them into a high-stakes dance of vulnerability and desire. The professional veneer they’ve both carefully maintained begins to splinter, revealing a heated attraction that burns as intense as the mystery surrounding them. In the quiet, tension-filled hours after dark, they discover that the greatest danger might not be the stalker lurking in the periphery, but the intoxicating pull of someone they can’t afford to want. This sapphic romance masterfully balances heart-racing suspense with searing, late-night chemistry. It is a story about duty, power dynamics, and the reckless surrender of control, perfect for readers who love a spicy slow-burn that keeps the adrenaline surging from the first chapter to the very last.

Great Story.

I found this story very enjoyable to read. There were funny scenes that brought out the main character, Zoe and her three year crush over her boss chief marketing at Gruzska publishing Gwen Fudala. The mystery of who was stocking Gwen for thirteen years was intriguing, exciting and scary at times for Zoe because she didn't know if she was being watched and when HR and Mr. Gruzska didn't believe Zoe or Gwen that Gwen was being stalked. Gwen decided to quit. I thought Zoe was the strong one in this story because she was the first one to believe Gwen that she was being stalked and Zoe was also being stalked and the scenes that led up to the stalker attacking Gwen and Zoe was horrifying and reality check of what real stalkers are capable of. You felt bad for Zoe when the stalker revealed herself. I liked that the author of this book didn't hold back on the scenes of the stalker while Zoe was fulfilling her dream of being in a romantic relationship with her boss, Gwen. I also really liked the epilogue. I truly recommend this book to everyone that loves a good age gap romance.

Not amazing but still good

Stars: 4 Stars Format: Audiobook Narrator: Quinn Riley Series: MY Boss’s Stalker Book 1 Steam Level: Steamy CW: stalking, violence, blood I read this for the I Heart Sapphic 2025 Reading Challenge for the prompt Coming Out. Yay a new series to start by Adrian J. Smith to read! I am slowly but surely making my way through her backlist. Quick Thoughts: - The whole book is from Zoe’s POV - With the subheading “Spoiler It’s Not Me” I thought it would be a lighter book but it’s not. So very not - I wanted to wring the neck of that detective they talked to. What a supreme jerk - Loved that Gwen doesn’t have an ounce of shame about what revs up her engine - Even I, the most oblivious person ever, would not have missed Gwen’s blatant flirting. Come on Zoe, get it together - The reveal of the stalker wasn’t a surprise but how it was done and the reasoning for everything was. Everything slotted into place very creepily - No third act breakup! - That company needs to go under and all its executives ruined. They were class A jerks - That being said, I appreciated that the HR complaint was taken seriously though that was greatly tempered by the feeling that it was only because it was filed against Gwen - I LOVED that the big event with the stalker wasn’t the end of the book. There was a lot of story afterwards and there was no glossing over the trauma that whole thing had on both of their lives - The reason I didn’t give this four stars is that in the beginning there…

OK so my heart has been in my throat for the last 45 min! So damn tense, it has been hard to breathe.

Adrain J Smth is a freakishly great writer. I started this book yesterday afternoon, had to put it down to sleep, and then I dreamed about the characters all night! I have never been drawn into such a tense situation that affected me like this. I do not read thrillers as I am susceptible to overwhelming situations. I had figured out the “bad guy” before the last twist but I still was not prepared for it. These characters are so well developed that they just seemed real. My God this was a true masterpiece!

Just OK

Not my favorite from this author. The angst was repetitive and went on too long. Could not really connect with the characters. Conflicting statements from one paragraph to another. An ok read, just not special.
