This book was such a new take on a theme that has been used by many authors. As soon as I finished it, I started it over because I wanted to see it from a different perspective now that I understood the meaning of it all.
Two beautiful, thought out characters that pull you in on every story line. It was slightly confusing for the first three chapters but once I "got it" I could not put it down. She does an outstanding job of blending a difficult concept with science, imagery and emotions that make it truly a one of a kind read. I will be reading it for a third time to see what other little details I missed. Loved this book.

Slow in the beginning, but ultimately worth it
Unlike seemingly a lot of reviews here, I really dislike the beginning for - say - about the first 50% of the book. I was determined to give it a negative rating up until the last half. I understood what the author was doing, that it was important for us to see Thora and Santi together in all these lifetimes, but they were just mostly unlikable for a lot of these lifetimes. We were just told how angry Thora was and how calm Santi was and it felt like there was no more depth to them than that, what we were explicitly told.
I loved the last half of the book, though. They had to make decisions on their own, actually act human in different situations. They finally got soke depth and a more cohesive plot began to form. And I think it worked out really well.

This book had such a cool concept. I like the fact that every chapter is a different story within the story. For some reason I had the concept of the book all wrong in my mind. I thought this was a romance and I guess on its own it was a love story but not the one you would think.
The characters got a little annoying at one point but I think that was also intentional since you get so many different versions of the same character. They can't stay the same.
I'm a little disappointed with the resolution of this story. I was expecting something different, again because of what I thought it was about, so I felt like it was dragged so long and then that ending ugh.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read.
Great prose and storytelling to boot!
Often I find a book either having a great story, but bland writing, or great writing and a basic plot. This, for me, had both.
I found myself not getting overly emotional in this one, but I think that's part of the point. It hits all aspects of love, even after they are just plain sick of each other.
This book felt very planned out and I respect that. Don't get me wrong. I love going along with the ride with writers who have no idea where they are going until they arrive at the end. This is not one of those books lol. But... Because of that, it can be read again for obvious reasons once you make it through the first time.
I'd say if I were give this book up to an analogy, it would be one of those wooden puzzle boxes. It's intriguing and hard to figure out for a while. At the end, it pops open for that "aha!" and then it's still fun to put it back together again. I don't cry over a puzzle box (unless I can't solve it). The strength of this particular puzzle is it's not a painful process along the way with Cat's almost acrobatic, articulate prose, which kept me coming back for more.

Interesting ride through an alternate universe
Very unique book that is well written and inventive. I felt like the world was hard to imagine at points but the characters were extemely vibrant. I enjoyed the ending and had no idea where the story would lead.
