Description

In Make Room for Love, Darcy Liao and Nicky Endres craft a masterful exploration of the heart, weaving together the messy, beautiful complexities of modern relationships. At its core, the story follows a vibrant cast of POC characters whose lives intersect and evolve through the challenges of deep friendship and the quiet, persistent pull of romance. The narrative excels in its pacing, offering a delicious, semi-slow burn that prioritizes genuine connection over fleeting sparks. Readers are invited to witness the characters’ vulnerabilities as they dismantle the walls they have built, allowing one another to get closer than anyone else ever has. It is a story about the grace found in letting people in—and the strength required to build a life alongside someone else. Beyond the intimate romance, the book shines as a tribute to the networks of friends who anchor us. Through thoughtful prose and well-rounded, authentic voices, the authors examine what it means to grow together rather than apart. Falling for her butch roommate wasn't in the books...

Make Room For Love is a beautifully written and thought-provoking exploration of love, identity, and discovering who you truly are. What stood out most in this novel was its nuanced portrayal of the queer experience, with a particular focus on trans representation. The journey of self-discovery and learning to embrace one’s identity is woven so delicately throughout the story, and I appreciated how the author handled the complexities of these experiences. The representation of trans characters in Let Love In is one of its strongest points. The protagonist's struggle with understanding their own gender identity and their evolving relationship with attraction felt raw, honest, and incredibly well-done. The author doesn’t shy away from the complexities that come with being queer, trans, and a minority and that authenticity adds so much depth to the story. I especially loved how the book explores the concept of attraction—how it can evolve, be discovered, and sometimes even surprise you. The emotional journey of navigating that discovery felt incredibly relatable, and it offered a fresh perspective on how attraction doesn’t always fit into neat, predefined boxes. The portrayal of the queer community in the book feels rich and diverse, with characters who reflect a wide spectrum of experiences and identities. The author does an excellent job of creating a space where readers can see themselves, whether they are questioning, exploring, or fully embracing who they are. It’s a…

Sapphic love story with trans rep

This book was the first one I've read with a MC who is trans. There's so much representation in this book: trans MC, Asian and Jewish MCs, butch, lesbian, newly discovered bi, unions, big city, loss, and roommates! For me this felt more like a heavy book dealing with family loss, inadequate work conditions and unionization, with a side of romance. There is strap spice and a cute HEA!

Delicious sapphic slow burn with a plot that could stand on its own even without the romance

I absolutely loved everything about Make Room for Love. This steamy slow-burn romance is a beautifully written story that balances heartfelt character growth, sizzling chemistry, and an engaging plot that stands strong on its own. The characters are the heart of this book, and Darcy Liao has crafted two incredibly complex and flawed leads in Mira and Isabel. Their growth throughout the story felt organic and natural, never forced. Both women are grappling with their own personal struggles, and it was deeply satisfying to watch them not only heal individually but also learn to support one another. The slow-burn romance is masterfully executed. The build-up of tension between Mira and Isabel is delicious, and the moments of connection and vulnerability are as heartwarming as they are steamy. Their relationship is layered and real, filled with moments that make you root for them every step of the way. Beyond the romance, the plot is equally compelling. Mira’s fight to win a union election at work ties seamlessly into the story and provides an additional layer of depth. It’s one of those rare romances where the external plot is just as strong as the relationship dynamics, making the book an even more rewarding read. The writing itself is outstanding! It's descriptive and evocative, bringing the characters and their world to vivid life. Every interaction, whether romantic or otherwise, feels meaningful and adds to the richness of the story. Final Thoughts: Make Room for…

Lovely Queer Romance

🌟Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💧Drip-o-Meter: 💦💦💦 💗Something I Loved: So so many things. The book follows Mira, a “straight” trans woman who’s learning to trust again after finally breaking free of her controlling ex-boyfriend, and Isabel, a cis lesbian who has built a fortress around herself after the death of her sister, and their journey from strangers to roommates to friends to lovers (hello bi awakening). But more than this, it’s a story about two hurt people supporting each other as they grow and face their fears; as they let go of the destructive patterns they’ve built from pain and self-preservation and learn to trust themselves and each other. Their growth was not flawless (as most isn’t), and they struggled at times with communication (as most do), but they so clearly cared deeply for each other and it was lovely watching them put in the effort to grow individually in order to make their lives and relationship flourish. Also… Isabel 🥰🤤🫦 🫤Something I Would Have Changed: In general I don’t always love when the romantic/sexual dynamic follows such strict stereotypical gender roles (i.e., the masc presenting lesbian having the more “manly” qualities) but I also know there are limitless ways to be queer in real life and personal preference aside, I was just happy with how diverse this book was in comparison to most (Chinese American, Indian American, lesbian, transgender). Plus it resulted in the truly swoon-worthy butch chivalry of Isabel and it would have been a damn…
