I love this author. I have read every book and purchase them on the release date. There has never been a book by her I do not enjoy.
This was a slow burn, but it was down great and I could not wait for them to get together and when they finally did the scene was with it! I really want to learn to the trick with my tongue like Larissa!! If you have not read this author, please do…
A Frustrating Love Study Experience!
I love Nicole Pyland’s stand alone stories. I read the reviews and was looking forward to this book and its storyline. As entertaining as it could be, I found some of the verbage lacking in substance. It felt a little repetitive and a little disjointed. The characters were set and the supporting cast was doing their part but the span of the history and storyline didn’t seem to flow as her stories normally would. I do like the last few chapters where things take a different turn, finally but I took longer to read this book than I normally would. I did like it in the end but it took longer to get there.
Great Characters and Dialogue
If you love interesting story telling, great character development and actual dialogue, you’ll love this book. I get bored when writers don’t put actual dialogue between characters. Nicole Poland always has such fun and deep character development with actual dialogue that not only advances the story but is funny and interesting. You can’t go wrong with Love Study.
Let me start by saying I am a big fan of this author. I own most of her books, and consider her to be in my top three sapphic romance writers. That being said, this book was a disappointment. The first kiss did not take place until I had finished 79% of the book. I love a slow burn but at this point it was just repetitive and boring. Both MC's were in their 30's, intelligent, and lesbian. Hello somebody, what took so long. Sometimes you just have to go for it.
I live vicariously through these characters and this was just not believable to me. The sexual tension was just not there. I never found myself sitting on the edge of my seat for them to consummate the relationship. There were no wet dreams or self help sessions. For teenagers this may have worked. But for mature women, the romance did not ring true. Had I known what I was getting I would have skipped this one. So, for those looking for a book to take to bed, this is not it. Spice 2 stars.
Frustratingly lovable characters you can't help but root for!
Love Study is a fantastic read if you’re looking for a little escape from the daily grind. We meet Larissa and Harlow, two best friends who are frustrating in the very best ways. Larissa is the smartest clueless person, while Harlow is the toughest coward. You can’t help but fall in love with these two.
You know you’ve found a great story when you're so invested you find yourself wanting to shake and yell at both of the MC’s. The “love study” conducted in the book is really fun, and most importantly, gives Harlow and Larissa the chance to finally figure some things out.
So if you enjoy stories with messy, realistic characters, this book is definitely worth grabbing!
