Description

Kasey has mastered the art of playing it cool. Working solitary hours and retreating into the pages of sapphic romance novels, she keeps her loneliness at arm’s length, content to live vicariously through fiction rather than face her own stagnant life. But when rumors swirl about a mysterious, intriguing new hire at her job, Kasey finds herself daring to hope that her own real-life romance might finally be within reach. Enter Sam, a person just looking for a clean slate after escaping a toxic past. Sam prefers the company of their Dungeons & Dragons group over real-world connections, largely because they are never truly alone. Sam shares their body and mind with their system: Lita, the fierce, guarded protector, and Leksa, a melancholic bibliophile haunted by memories that blur the line between reality and story. As Kasey and Sam’s paths cross, the barriers around their hearts begin to shatter. Navigating the complexities of Dissociative Identity Disorder, this is a tender, deeply honest exploration of what it means to be seen—not just for who you are today, but for every hidden piece of your soul. Sometimes, love is the only thing strong enough to hold all the broken shards together.

From a system, amazing did representation

I am the host of a did system and I absolutely love this book. I relate to a lot of aspects in this book, including one of the bad panic attacks that happened in this book. I saw elements of my relationship with my husband who I've known for 9 years and my best friend who my system and I met in middle school, both amazing guys who I'm lucky to know. I highly recommend everyone who can read this without problems read this book at least once because the depiction of a system in this book is amazing for showing one possible and very real way for did to present. I self diagnosed myself with did, and then had it professionally confirmed, years after I(the host) started officially meeting the rest of my system and learning how to work with my system to be functional so having the main character undiagnosed professionally but still aware of the rest of the system is really nice to see especially since Moonknight and fight club, the only other stories with a did system I relate to, didn't really have things I related to when it came to the journey of them getting diagnosed or recognized as a system. I would rate this book higher if I could
