Description

For Agent Josephine Vero, life is a calculated series of directives. In a world defined by cold, mechanical precision and the absolute suppression of the self, she has successfully compartmentalized her emotions until they are nothing more than background noise. She is the agency's gold standard—a woman who obeys, excels, and remains entirely hollow. That fragile, carefully constructed existence begins to fray the moment a rogue agent is thrust into her orbit. Defiant, unpredictable, and entirely resistant to the agency’s brutal restructuring, this new arrival is everything Josephine was trained to despise. Yet, as they navigate the shadowy, high-stakes corridors of an organization built on erasure, the walls around Josephine’s heart start to crumble. Mandy N. Olivieri delivers a compelling narrative that transcends the standard tropes of the spy thriller. While the backdrop is one of clandestine operations and hidden agendas, the true conflict lies within. As Josephine finds herself grappling with a budding attraction that threatens her programmed allegiance, she is forced to confront a terrifying possibility: that her greatest assignment isn't to control the chaos around her, but to finally allow herself to feel the very things she was told to forget.

Loved it!

Interesting switch up on this trope. It's not about assassins so much as it is love. Fantastic arc with both Josephine and Danielle. Very different from how it appears it will be in the beginning. A beautiful love story actually. Worth reading. Will want to see more from this author!! And more books about these two love birds. Very engaging, I didn't want it to end! There is a disturbing scene in the opening but I didn't find it too difficult. It made sense to have it. Definitely give this a chance if you're looking for something original and well planned out. And fun!

this is an absolutely fantastic book

I never thought I’d like a book about a contract killer (not exactly but basically) but this was a fabulous book. The combination of love and danger was handled magnificently. Read this, you’ll love it.

Couldn't Stop Reading!

What a ride! This book grabbed me from the very first pages and I couldn't stop reading. The story follows Josephine through such an incredible journey—from a dark and tragic past into a life she never could have imagined. The characters felt so real, and I found myself completely invested in what would happen to her. The romance was beautiful and had me rooting for them the whole way. Just when things seemed to be falling into place, the tension ramped up and I was holding my breath. My only complaint? It ended too soon! I need a sequel immediately. Highly recommend this one.

Government agency?

I found this story confusing and dark, but began to enjoy it especially when Josey moved to the farm. It could have used better proofing.
