Will the wanderer come home to stay?
Brooke, the hard working City Manager of Faircombe, TN, is best friends with Ben, a physician in town. Brooke has known Taylor, Ben's older sister, their entire lives and has had a crush on her since she was thirteen. But Taylor appears to be irresponsible, a lot of trouble, and can't wait to leave town. Whereas, Brooke is very dedicated and will never leave her home town.
But the attraction was undeniable and their love story took a long time to unfold. Their flirtatious banter was fun, the intimate scenes were sexy, and the emails and blogging showed such emotional depth with these main characters. Loved the writing!
Although Taylor has made a great success from her nomadic lifestyle, she just may be the one with the biggest insecurities stemming from her childhood, but she was so much fun!
Very enjoyable story, Haley, and am looking forward to your next book!

I have loved and thoroughly enjoyed Haley Cass’s books. From the very beginning I found the characters charming, engaging, relatable. Maybe they set the bar too high? I wanted to love this book and it’s characters but not so much. The first 10% was kind of interesting. (Taylor? Sweet, charming, loveable. Brooke? What’s her deal? Just reading about her tense shoulders made my body hurt; and grumpy in a off-putting way. Yeah, just couldn’t like her.) The next 25% of the book was a bit of a slog - not much interesting happening there. Then around the 35% mark the story started to get some “life.” Really! The charm. The warmth. The loveabilty. All there. Especially Brooke started to make sense to me; her grumpiness, her drive, her commitment; sweet and charming in her way. The last 65% of the book was a truly delightful story about making peace with the past; family; secrets; and of course love. All the feels.
A well written love story Mcs you can't help but love. Felt like real life, hope. Finding home
I really enjoyed this book. Read quickly because I had to know how it would end. Great characters. Great depiction of small towns the good and the bad. Of self growth and discovery. Dealing your home could be anything including a person. That love can be so many complex things. Including pain and life altering. I definitely would say read this book. Cass has a talent.
A glorious opposites attract love story!
This is a beautiful diamond from my TBR shelves! I'm so glad I finally read i it. It's a FAVORITE! Taylor left home at 19 to see the world. She felt stifled and really not wanted in her small city. Though she was loved at home. Brooke, though not a blood relative, did spend most of her time with the Vandenverg family. She had a crush on Taylor since she was 13. Now Brooke is 40 and is at a conference in San Diego and who does she bump into but Taylor.
After they're spectacular night together, Brooke goes home. But Taylor is on her way home because her younger sister is expecting.
A gorgeous opposites attract love story! Worth more than 5 stars!
A flirty and fun slowburn inside of a slowburn
This book was excellent. Taylor and Brooke have known each other nearly their entire lives. Taylor was the cool older neighbor, and Brooke was the awkward younger kid who crushed on her. Fast forward a couple of decades, and now they're both adults at the height of their careers. When Taylor's younger sister brings her back to her hometown, Taylor and Brooke reconnect, and so much is picked up where they left it those many years ago.
This is like 2 slowburns on 1. In the larger sense, Brooke and Taylor have always shared... something... since some 25-ish years ago. And when they reconnect as adults, their relationship is still slow to start. Brooke loves their hometown, and can't imagine any other life. Taylor is a traveler, and can't imagine staying in one place longer than a month. This book is an exploration of how attraction and love and family (both bio and chosen), works through life's largest hurdle. How do you be in a relationship with somebody who is on another continent, and without cell service? How can you love somebody when you only see them once or twice a year? How can you grow and weave your lives together? This book explores, and answers, those questions.
This book is excellent, and I just could not wait for Taylor and Brooke to get together. They have a wonderful chemistry. And the scenes where the book flashes back to give context to so much of their present-day actions is fantastic. It makes Brooke and Taylor such real, fleshed out characters.
