Description

In the sterile, high-stakes world of medical research, Dr. Elias Thorne believes he has seen everything. That changes the moment he logs into the experimental virtual reality simulation designed to push the boundaries of human endurance. What begins as a clinical study quickly fractures into a terrifying psychological maze where the line between code and consciousness dissolves. Trapped within the digital architecture, Elias encounters a haunting presence that defies every logical explanation. This ghost in the machine is not just a glitch; he is a visceral, dangerous, and inexplicably magnetic force that challenges Elias to confront his own suppressed desires. As the simulation turns hostile, the physical world fades, leaving them bound together in a desperate fight for survival. This is a twisted descent into the unknown, blending heart-pounding horror with a complex, slow-burn romance that defies the reality of the screen. You will find yourself constantly questioning what is tangible and what is a fabrication of a crumbling mind. Prepare for a narrative that pivots when you least expect it, pulling you into a dark, immersive experience where the only thing more lethal than the system is the connection blooming in the shadows of the code.

Wow!

All I can say as I finished this book was…”wow”. I couldn’t put the book down! It went in a completely different direction than I anticipated and it was such a thrilling ride throughout the entire story. I’m excited to see where Asher and Levi’s relationship goes in the next book and that other scenarios they face as they continue their VR journey! I loved this dark, horror-filled romance so much I bought a signed copy and the upcoming special edition! I definitely recommend this read!!!

Enjoyable but a little confusing

I think I give the originality of this first book 5/5. The execution is more like 3/5 so I gave it an average. Levi signs up to test a Virtual Reality horror game and ends up trapped in the game, unable to get out. So he plays the game through, hoping he'll be free if he wins. He dies many times (just as you do when you're trying to beat a game) but he resets each time in different places. The switch in locations threw me for a loop, TBH. He starts out in the woods on a group camping trip running from a mysterious killer, then the same group of people are suddenly a team of ghost hunters, inspecting an abandoned mental hospital. I have so many questions! Unfortunately, Levi doesn't really ask many questions, so I was left frustrated. I'm generally not a fan of entertainment in any form that poses more questions than it answers and moves on to new plot points with mysteries hanging in the air. That was my biggest gripe with this book. The attraction between Levi and Asher is very dark. Asher is obsessed with Levi, but Levi comes to rely on him in the game. I wanted to root for them more, but I was a little thrown off by the horror of their surroundings. It didn't really set a romantic stage. This was definitely not a boring 1st book in the series. I'm excited for the next installment, and hopefully some of my many questions will be answered.

Phenomenal. Captivating. Exhilarating.

This book was unlike any other book I have read. The suspense. The thrill. The horror. Whatever you think will happen, what ever you predict, forget about. My mind was completely blown. I've never been on the edge of my seat from chapter one to finish. Immersed was everything I didn't know I needed in a story. The plot was thick. It kept me guessing. And it kept me hooked. 10\10. If I could rate it ten stars I would. Highly recommend. Such an excellent book.
