Description

When the high-stakes pressure of professional hockey meets the undeniable pull of a secret connection, boundaries begin to blur in ways neither man anticipated. In this second installment of the Hockey Guys series, the tension isn’t just on the ice—it’s in every lingering glance and sharp, witty exchange between Carter and Tommaso. As teammates navigating the intensity of their sport, they share a rhythmic chemistry that quickly evolves from playful locker-room banter into something far more profound. Dealing with the expectations of their careers and the complexities of finding love in a hyper-masculine world, the duo must decide if their connection is worth the risk of going public. This story shines through its genuine emotional depth, trading standard tropes for a fresh, heartfelt exploration of intimacy and vulnerability. The authors masterfully balance laugh-out-loud humor with the raw, quiet moments that define a burgeoning relationship. Whether they are navigating the camaraderie of their team or hiding away in stolen moments, Carter and Tommaso’s journey is as much about self-discovery as it is about falling in love. It is a vibrant, modern romance that proves the most important plays are the ones made off the rink.

Love a good Hockey romance

This book is, so far, my favorite in the series. I just loved Tommaso so much. His character is really strong, and even though he has his flaws and struggles, he is still incredibly caring toward his family and friends. He just wants to be the best at playing hockey and make his mom proud.🥹🤍 Carter is full of energy and spark. I really liked that he didn’t change who he was throughout the story and stayed true to himself. He also found the courage to move forward after his ex and a client ruined his life.😒 These two really needed to find each other when they did. Their chemistry was clear from the beginning, but it was so lovely to watch them grow more confident and comfortable with each other because they both needed someone rooting for them❤️. I felt like Tommaso was very lonely and needed Carter’s spark to realize that he could aspire for more and overcome the people from his past. I really loved how Carter encouraged him to take control of his life and choose what he truly wanted for himself. The story was really well written, and of course the heated moments were great, but for me the best part was watching them fall in love and find themselves again while facing the storm together🥹🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Loved the relationship

I liked this a lot more than the first book in this series. The relationship between Tommaso and Carter started out as a business one which quickly turns to friendship. They find each other attractive but Tom is still not able to fully embrace his queerness and Carter has been out and proud his whole life. I liked how Tom didn’t struggle long once he decided Carter was worth it. He owned his feelings and wanted to be all in. Carter had more hesitation, which made sense since he’d been burned before. I do have to say that for as much as I am enjoying this series there isn’t that much representation of Black characters or characters from other countries, which hockey has many. I hope we see more because this just doesn’t feel authentic and I don’t feel comfortable reading about white, American men all the time. That’s not what the hockey world is about. Granted there aren’t as many Black players but there are many from other countries such as Russia or even Canada. I do have to point out, as a Jersey Girl, that Toms River doesn’t have an apostrophe. I grew up there and that was a huge no!!!! Also I think disco fries are a north Jersey thing, they aren’t a Jersey Shore thing. They could be different now because I haven’t lived there for a bit but it didn’t feel authentic to me. That’s from my personal experience. I do wish the sex scenes weren’t almost fade to black. I thought the first time they had penetrative sex there would be a scene that described emotions and how much…

Good luck putting this book down!

I’m Your Guy is one of the best books I’ve read this year, and I can’t wait for more Hockey Guys shenanigans. You know how it goes… I didn’t want to put this book down, and I didn’t want it to end. I loved Tommaso and Carter from the very first page, they’re just so great together. I would give this book all the stars in the Colorado sky. I’m Your Guy is book 2 in the Hockey Guys series of M/M hockey romance standalones, so it can be read without reading the first book in the series. It has some of my favorite tropes, like opposites attract, a work relationship, forced proximity—an accidental roommate setup, and the best of them all: grumpy/sunshine. I’m Your Guy has the perfect balance between lighthearted fun, hockey action, spice and steam, and emotional turmoil. There’s also plenty of longing from both guys, some dirty thoughts, and great inner dialogue that makes the tension and chemistry between Tom and Carter rise exponentially while they get to know each other. Tommaso is a successful hockey player, a broody defenseman with a sketchy reputation who mostly keeps to himself and is completely dedicated to hockey. But his mother is coming to visit for Christmas, so he needs to have his new house furnished in, like, no time. And so along comes Carter, the openly gay interior designer Tom runs into accidentally and hires out of desperation. Carter needs the job to save his business from bankruptcy and avoid homelessness. So the desperation goes both ways, but for very…

Loved!

I adored this story! You can’t help but love Tommaso and Carter the moment they are on the page. Tommaso is need of some help. He has an empty house that is in desperate need of furniture and literally anything that makes it livable. All in the time for the holidays when his sick mom is visiting. And lucky for him he passes with Carter. A genius when it come to interior design who is need of some good luck. Carter’s ex, boyfriend and business partner, has screwed him over bad. He has almost no money to his name and is about to be kicked out of his apartment. That is until a growly hockey player asks for his help. Not that Carter realizes who Tommaso is at first. But Tommaso will help Carter get his life back in order and in return Carter will get Tommaso’s house ready. What neither expect is the attraction and connection that sparks between them. Carter hasn’t been afraid to be himself which is the opposite of Tommaso. Poor guy breaks your heart when you learn about what he has been through since he was a kid. Being himself has never been something he could do simply do and be comfortable with. Even around those who are closest to him. But the more he falls for Carter the more he realizes that maybe he doesn’t have to be afraid anymore. And that things are changing. Is it easy? No. But with the right support, it could be. I just loved these two. Their chemistry and banter was just so good. I couldn’t put their story down. They take their time as they get to know one another…

You will not be able to put this down....

Carter Flynn is a little down on his luck. He is desperately in need of a win in his life. But he doesn’t let much get him down, he keeps on going. He is so tenacious and driven. And never ever loses his sense of humor. Carter is so kind and sees the good in people. Tommaso DiCosta might actually be one of the grumpiest grumpy cinnamon rolls I have had the absolute pleasure of reading. OH MY GOODNESS this man. I immediately loved him. And absolutely love that Bowen gifted us with so many of Tommasso’s thoughts. I wanted to wrap him up in a giant hug and fight anyone that was ever mean to him. When Tommaso corners Carter and hires him to decorate his house the banter that ensues was epic! These two were absolutely hilarious. How Carter baits Tommasso and he keeps falling for it. These two made me laugh out loud so much throughout the book. While this book was so funny there were also a lot of emotions. Both characters have overcome a lot in their past, and that impacts the men that they are today. Carter worked so hard to break down the walls that Tommaso has around himself….but he does with so much love and care. Never pushing too hard. Tommaso on the other hand took care of Carter and loved him for who he was, not wanting to change him. I will be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, so I just dove in head first and was not at all disappointed. Together these two just work. They bring out the absolute best in one another. While I usually like my books on…
