Long time Winter Jacket reader who loved getting Hunter's story!

I didn't love the original Winter Jacket. I'm not one for Teacher/student type romances. However i didn't hate it and Eliza Lentzski seems to have a way to make unlikable characters interesting. So i purchased the sequel, and that sequel..and they grew on me. I became invested in Elle and Hunter's journey so much that by the end of the fourth book i loved them! Given that the first four were written in first person from Elle's point of view i was super excited to see into Hunter's head..and i loved that the author took us right back to the beginning so i was able to then re-read the first book cross referencing the scenes against this one, now having BOTH of point of views. Is that weird? Don't care, it was awesome and i loved them so much more as a result (and have a new appreciation for the first book). The perfect series finale.

Fun read for Winter Jacket enthusiasts.

If you have already read the "winter jacket" series you will enjoy this book. If you havent I would suggest that you read book 1 first. Book 1 is the beginning of Elle and Hunters relationship basically from Elle's point of view. Book 5 tells it from Hunters point of view. It had been awhile since I had read book 1 so I opened it and found it fun to read them side by side. The setting and dialog was the same but the inner voices were different. I did not realize in book 1 that Hunter was struggling so much. My only complaint was the abrupt ending. It only covered about a third of the original book. So I read book 1 again. Crazy, but its a great series with many ups and downs that makes it a real page turner.

Slow burn

This is the slowest of slow burns I’ve ever read. It’s a good story and definitely an enjoyable read. Could use a bit more tension build up between the two MCs, just to really push the burn up a notch.

So happy to hear Hunter's point of view!!

I LOVE the Winter Jacket series I have read it numerous times. I was so excited Eliza Lentzski found a way of extending the series by adding a book with Hunters point of view!!!! I believe this book could and should have been a lot longer, I would have loved to have read Hunter's thoughts and point of view through the beginning of her relationship with Elle. However this book definitely gave more insight to Hunter and her relationship with her parents which again I think could have made the book longer to explain how Hunters relationship with her family changed as her relationship with Ellie developed. So excited for another book in this series hopefully Eliza will consider more books with Hunter's point of view that would parallel the original winter jacket series

Hunter's story lovingly laid out in black in white

Here we are at book 5 of the Winter Jacket series and it's a dream come true for those of us so heavily invested in Elle and Hunter. We've all wondered what Hunter was thinking and feeling as she navigated her crush for Elle and here it is lovingly laid out in black and white. Honestly, it wasn't what I expected at all, and Hunter wasn't what I expected. In some cases, it's a stark collision of what we know about Hunter through Elle's previous internal dialogue and musings for 4 books. As Hunter's thoughts are revealed we gain insight as to why they ran so hot and sometimes got stopped cold. I highly recommend reading Winter Jacket first since they are about the same timeline, but mostly because you will be gifted a few Easter Eggs along the way that refer back to the first novel. This book was such a treat and I hope we see more from this universe of characters.
