Description

Katie’s grand return to Vancouver was supposed to be a romantic fresh start, but love takes a backseat when you accidentally unleash a torrent of feral, untamable magic. Now, instead of quiet moments with her girlfriend Natalie, Katie is Public Enemy Number One to Natalie’s formidable coven. Exposing their deepest secrets has turned the local witches against her, leaving Katie with a daunting ultimatum: wrangle the loose magic back into containment, or face the consequences of being an outsider in a world that doesn’t want her. The stakes climb higher when the predatory Madsen family enters the fray, desperate to claim the chaotic power for their own dark purposes. If the Madsens get to the magic first, everything Katie has built—and the woman she loves—will be lost. To survive, Katie must stop running from her identity and fully embrace her mysterious, latent abilities as an anchor for magic. As the lines between duty and desire blur, Katie and Natalie are forced to challenge centuries of rigid coven law. This high-stakes follow-up is an electrifying journey of self-discovery, heart-pounding magical showdowns, and the enduring strength of a relationship tested by forces far beyond the ordinary.

A fast-paced action paranormal story

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is a fast-paced action paranormal story, with a coming-out story, self-discovery, and a bit of spice. The main couple was already established in the previous book in this series (How to Flirt with a Witch), and while this time they have some hurdles to go over, it is not the main thing. As a former animals' activist, I related to the main hurdle and inner conflict in this book very much, and I wholeheartedly supported the MC's decisions as she found out her true vocation in life. While it felt a little triggering at the beginning, the fast pace and the excellent writing swept me over and I couldn’t put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed it, laughing outloud at times, almost crying at other times. The other MC has to discover some hard truths, and her disillusionment broke my heart. The whole book read like a YA novel. The MCs are supposed to be in their 20's but they act a lot like teenagers = over-dramatic reactions and emotional earthquakes that made me feel they have quite a lot of growing up to do. Granted, they do grow quite a bit during this book, but I expect much more growing-up to be done in the next book (really hoping there will be more books in this series). That means there is so much more to look forward to :) I love it! Please note that this is a 2nd book in a series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, it is highly recommended to read the 1st book before reading…

Cute Book - Good Read

I enjoyed this book, though not as much as the first. The ending is complete, but it is definitely can be continued in other books - which I will read.

Nice.

It was a nice wrap up from the first book, but I can see a third book easily on the way.

Loving this series

I really had trouble putting this book down. It’s got great characters and a plot with twists that kept me hooked. There are witches, magic, shape-shifting chimeras, friendship, love and betrayal, along with non-stop action. I hope there’s a next book, possibly with redemption for Oaklyn, who is such a tormented character. Such a good series!
