A fast-paced action paranormal story
Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a fast-paced action paranormal story, with a coming-out story, self-discovery, and a bit of spice. The main couple was already established in the previous book in this series (How to Flirt with a Witch), and while this time they have some hurdles to go over, it is not the main thing.
As a former animals' activist, I related to the main hurdle and inner conflict in this book very much, and I wholeheartedly supported the MC's decisions as she found out her true vocation in life. While it felt a little triggering at the beginning, the fast pace and the excellent writing swept me over and I couldn’t put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed it, laughing outloud at times, almost crying at other times. The other MC has to discover some hard truths, and her disillusionment broke my heart.
The whole book read like a YA novel. The MCs are supposed to be in their 20's but they act a lot like teenagers = over-dramatic reactions and emotional earthquakes that made me feel they have quite a lot of growing up to do. Granted, they do grow quite a bit during this book, but I expect much more growing-up to be done in the next book (really hoping there will be more books in this series). That means there is so much more to look forward to :) I love it!
Please note that this is a 2nd book in a series. While it can be read as a stand-alone, it is highly recommended to read the 1st book before reading…
