Description

The festive season takes an unexpected turn in Holiday Hostage, a captivating story where high-stakes tension meets a flicker of unlikely romance. When a glamorous and perfectly structured holiday gathering is derailed by an unforeseen crisis, the forced proximity acts as a pressure cooker for two women caught on opposite sides of the chaos. As the clock ticks down and the walls close in, they must move past their initial misgivings and deep-seated prejudices to survive the situation—and perhaps each other. What begins as a test of nerve deepens into a complex psychological dance. As the facade of the holiday event crumbles, the barriers between the protagonists begin to dissolve, revealing vulnerabilities and hidden desires neither expected to uncover. The plot is a masterclass in pacing, weaving together sharp-witted banter and genuine high-stakes drama that keeps the reader questioning who can be trusted until the very end. Beyond the suspense, the story excels in its character development, portraying a poignant, slow-burn lesbian romance that blooms in the most unconventional of circumstances. Readers looking for a narrative that balances edge-of-your-seat excitement with an authentic, heart-tugging connection will find this a refreshing, unpredictable, and deeply satisfying escape.

John Grisham much?

This book reminded me of a John Grisham novel. The pacing and the plot were totally in his ballpark. But I enjoyed reading it although it wasn't my favorite book of the week. 3.5 stars.

Love love love!

This is the first Rita Potter book I’ve ever read and what an incredible introduction! Complex characters, compelling story and witty, believable dialogue. I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to read her books, but I’m kind of glad because now I have a “new to me” author to start going through. The holidays may be over now, but don’t let that stop you from snuggling up with this book. Highly recommend!
