Description

Sir Lavinia has spent over a decade as the crown princess’s least-favored guard, desperately waiting for a chance to prove that behind her polished noble exterior lies a formidable warrior. When a diplomatic mission erupts into a violent ambush, Lavinia finds her world upended and is forced into an uneasy alliance with the one person she shouldn’t rely on: Sir Wren. Known as the Beast of Broadmoor, Wren is a battle-hardened knight living in the shadow of a career-ending injury that cost her an eye. She wanted a quiet retirement, not a treacherous trek across foreign mountains with a stubborn noble, a young princess, and an unexpected, fire-breathing stowaway. As the duo navigates rugged terrain and relentless foes, their initial friction begins to shift into a begrudging respect—and a searing, forbidden attraction. Caught between the scars of Wren’s past and the unsettling realization that their attackers may have been acting on orders from within the kingdom, the two knights must reconcile their opposing methods to survive. In this steamy, fairytale-inspired romance, duty and desire collide as Lavinia and Wren fight to deliver their charge to safety, discovering that the most dangerous enemies are often the ones closest to home.

A Exciting Adventure of Saphic Knights

Birch does it again in this book and honestly this one might be my favorite our of her lady knight series. The characters are so very much their own in this book. I loved that Wren basically could not brood too long, it was just against her nature in this book, and Lavinia just has that little dynamite thing that I love in characters like her. With both these main characters being well in to their careers, they know what they're doing, I love that Birch writes female leads fitting their life in with each other, rather just oh love finds a way. With the way Birch writes we have almost two climaxes with a constant drive of action to make us fall in love along side the characters. This is then followed by an almost dare I say fluffy slice of life leading up to the end of the book as it finishes. Minor spoiler, I would really be interested in seeing what might come down the line for Princess Iris and Dorothea...

My Heart Can’t Handle Two Lady Knights

I can’t even explain how much I love this series! Two lady knights in this one?! Phenomenal. I loved the characters! Their personalities clearly showed through and their growing relationships were wonderfully depicted. The care and gentleness that these knights expressed towards each other and the princess in their care was so lovely and had me swooning the whole time. As long as Mariah Rae Birch is writing, I’m reading these books!

Two knights are better then one

A good edition to the series. Grumpy x Grumpy was a fun pairing. They are my favorite couple of the series so far. I did miss a little mention of the magic in this world. I think its so unique in its concept that I always want more of it. But still, I loved this story and characters alot. SPOLIER Hopefully the next book will be about Sir Morgan!

The best yet

This is my favorite book in this series so far! I love that both knights have to learn to be vulnerable with eachother, but once they do their chemistry is off the charts.
