An excellent, well thought out and researched book...
A fantastic new book not to be missed if you like page-turners that keep your interest. This is the story of a young man and his family sailing aboard the TITANIC. Mr. Baker has captured the aura of the ship and the details of a klatch of her more well known passengers perfectly. The historical research is obvious and it shows. And he has created an epic family drama to match the background on which it takes place. This is a great read and keeps your attention throughout the entire story. Gotta warn you though, it is tough to put it down and you just might find yourself staying up all night to find out what happens to the main characters. This book had my attention locked-in by page five. And one more thing... keep a box of tissues close at hand, this is one poignant, heartfelt narrative. Not only a great love story, but one of life and conscious soul searching. Get it, get comfortable, and get lost in it. I did.
You will be drawn into the mystery of the families untold stories filled with captivating characters each with their own story to tell. You will be hinged on each of the chapters as their stories unfold in front of your eyes and imagination. You can vision their hopes and dreams aboard the Titanic through their eyes of the beauty of this ship until disaster struck that fateful night. The age of Hollywood back then was truly the golden years of the film industry.
Interesting take on a well known story
Multiple povs and the plot resolves itself neatly. Complex characters, rich descriptions of imagery and scenes-especially the sinking.
A Heartfelt Dive into Love and Tragedy
He Jumped First is a breathtaking mix of passion, courage, and heartbreak. From the moment the story sets sail, it pulls you into a world of forbidden love that feels as real as the icy waters of the Atlantic. The characters are vivid, the emotions raw, and the writing utterly captivating. It’s not just a love story—it’s a reminder of how far the human heart will go for connection, even in the face of disaster. I couldn’t put it down.
