Description

The ice is cold, but the rivalry between Jaxson and Elias is burning hot. As the starting goalie for the Minnesota Fury, Jaxson lives for the shutouts and the silence of the crease. He has no room in his life for distractions, especially not the infuriatingly talented forward from the opposing team who seems determined to dismantle his composure every time they cross paths. Elias is chaos in skates, a player who thrives on adrenaline and the thrill of the chase. When a high-stakes trade lands them in the same locker room, the dynamic shifts from bitter animosity to a friction that feels dangerous in all the right ways. Forced to work together to save their team's season, they discover that the line between hating each other and wanting each other is razor-thin. This debut delivers the perfect blend of high-octane hockey action and intense emotional stakes. It captures the spirit of iconic sports rivalries while carving out a fresh, spicy, and deeply layered story about trust and vulnerability. If you crave electric chemistry, playful banter, and the satisfying slow burn of enemies-to-lovers, this Minnesota-set romance is your next obsession. Get ready to lose your heart on the rink.

I loved the characters

I absolutely adored the characters and how layered they were! As a hockey fan, I also loved the game aspects. I do wish there had been epilogue or more of a comprehensive conclusion for some of the open threads but overall, I enjoyed the romance.

Is this Heated Rivalry coded... yes, and it is such a fun coding!! We get some nods to icon moments (what color ;) ), we get sweet and spicy, we get some family drama. We also get distinct characters that stick with you. These two are adorable and fun and bring out a chance to just be honest about yourself and your wants and needs. I am also excited to see the rest of the series play out because I have a feeling this team is going to be full of queer relationships that deserve sunshine.

Great potential - just missed the mark

I've been in my MM Hockey Romance Era for about 6 months and when I saw Emma share her WIP on Threads, AND it included a goalie - I def followed and was like "GIMME" when I saw she was looking for ARC readers. I've struggled with this review - because this has ALOT of potential and I LOVED our MMC's Beau and Milo. I love a good "idiots to lovers" plot and watching these two navigate the world together. I struggled because I'm a reader who needs a clear understanding of the timeline and some of it didn't make sense in how a hockey season runs. There were several plot lines that just seemed to drop in and than not exist again. The secondary characters were there and I can def see the development for the series. I just felt that, oddly being in my MM hockey romance era, I haven't read HR but I feel like the author was super excited to get in on the current trends - that this was just rushed and released before the book was ready and it needs some really good edits and a re-release. All that said - it was a quick read and I'll be on the lookout for more Minnesota Fury stories!
