"This man is like my own kryptonite because there is nothing I love more than a dirty talker in a cowboy hat."
"Your quiet calmed my chaos and I wasn't ready for you to go."
"Kissing him conjures up every ounce of rage and self-loathing I have, while pulling away from him feels like shards of glass are being ground into my stomach."
"My obsession with him is the only thing that's kept me alive."
"Because phoenixes are reborn from their own ashes, and part of me died that night with you. I needed a reminder that I could rise again too."
"You saved my life, Phoenix. I could have burned in the fires of self-loathing only to end up in the pits of hell, but instead, I rose from the ashes thanks to you."
This series keeps getting better and better. I'm so sad that there is only one book left 😭😭. I was so exited to finally read Phoenix and Walker's story. Phoenix held my heart in the other books. This also had some good troupes like rivals to lovers, forced proximity, and cowboy/firefighter. The spice was also spicin in this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥.
This story follows Phoenix and Walker. This story starts out when they first met 8 years ago at the rodeo. Phoenix is the rodeo bronc champion the past 3 years and Walker is new and coming for his title. One look over a bonfire leads to some heated and sexy times 😏🥵🥵. Walker is hiding secrets and knows he can't be with Phoenix. Phoenix ends up getting hurt and ends his career. Now we're 8 years later and at the present time. Walker is…
I loved this book so much! It was the first book I have ever read by Jillian, and it didn't disappoint! Phoenix and Walker's story is sad and it takes a while for them to be together again, but the wait is definitely worth it. The tension between them is 🥵🥵🥵 I want to read more of this series to get to know their friend group even more since I also adored them all! I am super excited Knox will be getting his own story this fall! I highly recommend this book if you're into MM romance!

Hooked from the very beginning.
Loved it!! I was hooked from the beginning. Great storyline, fantastic characters and the spice was fabulous! I'm excited to read the next book about Knox!
Angst & Chemistry... Oh My!
Jillian Wray has been great at pushing me out of my comfort zone with this series. It started with book no. 2, Playing with Fire (M/F with a cheating trope), which caused me to go back and read book no. 1, Burn It Down (M/M). M/M is outside of my wheelhouse, but I think I just hadn't been reading well written M/M. Wray changed that (obviously may not be everyone's cup of tea!).
I love Phoenix and Walker. You can cut through the tension when they meet again, not having seen each other for years after Phoenix's career ending injury as a bronc rider. Phoenix is dead set on keeping Walker out of his life and Walker is going to do everything he can to have Phoenix be his. There's a lot of angst (also not my usual thing) and a lot of emotion. Can't forget the chemistry either! Absolutely. Electric.
As it is book no. 3, you don't have to have read the first 2 in the series to read this one, but I recommend them anyway as I enjoyed them both as well. Characters from books no. 1 & 2 make appearances here as it is a friend group/found family, but you don't need to know their stories to read Phoenix and Walker - just know small references will be made that could be spoilers if you haven't read the first 2 books.
Enjoy!

“I want all of him, even the broken parts.”
Phoenix's story was definitely not what I was expecting when the first book of this series came out, but I gotta say I enjoyed it nonetheless.
This story starts with a bang, literally. But after spending that night together Walker walks away from Phoenix leaving him only a thank you note that only served to mess with Phoenix's head and ultimately ruin his Bronc rider career. Years later Walker and Phoenix cross paths again but the resentment Phoenix feels towards Walker doesn't stop him from wanting him or their love from blossoming.
I really enjoyed Phoenix and Walker's connection. I enjoyed how in contrast to how everyone perceives him, Phoenix is a true romantic and not just a playboy. He's just afraid of getting hurt again. And I gotta say, Walker's secrets and struggles were so far off from what I thought they were. That being said, there were a couple of things that felt a little off to me, for instance, the way that Phoenix kept treating his first time with Walker like there was this huge age gap between them when he's only two years older than him.
