Loved Zach and Merci, but Viktor was ruined 🫠

But like... just barely ( ‒̯́ ₃ β€’Μ―Μ€) I did enjoy reading this, but I've been going back and forth between a 3.75 and a 4-star rating since finishing it last night, and there are a few reasons I wanted to lower it, and maybe two or three things that saved it. Spoilers ahead: - Viktor was completely ruined for me. The way I have been SEETHING since the scene in Beckett's office (˘ŏ_ŏ) I couldn't BELIEVE the crap he said to Beckett, and there's no apology from him either! I think I'm one of maybe three people that was legitimately bothered by this because the story acknowledges that Beckett is shocked and hurt by the things Viktor tells him, and yet it completely ignores his feelings because Zach decides to tell the truth? I get Zach's secret wasn't Viktor's to tell, but there was no excusing the things he said. These guys have kidnapped, planned to unalive, drugged, beaten, stalked, and tracked each other, and I never thought any of them were actually cruel until that moment. I was shocked Beckett didn't tell Viktor to get out of his sight because I couldn't stand Viktor touching him afterwards like he hadn't just deeply hurt him. Viktor may be a great friend, but he is a HORRIBLE boyfriend, and while I went into the book loving him, I came out of it kind of hating him for how plain mean he was to Beckett ( `βˆ’γ…Ώβˆ’') - I loved Merci. I usually roll my eyes at his type of character, but I thought he was really brave and kind of inspiring, honestly. He really was feisty, he…

Step Brothers!

I fairly enjoyed this one. We get a lot of insight on Zach's situation and why he is the way he is which explains a whole lot. I love that some of the group members who know his situation are there for him when he doesn't really have that support from his parental figures. We also get to understand why Zach's dad is the way he is because of what happened to him. Mercy was an interesting character He was a little bit Flamboyant in my opinion. But he was hilarious. My favorite scene in this book, was the dinner scene. That part had me cackling. I am curious about 1 side character that's popped up in this series and that is Henneman. We know Zach doesn't like him because he states that he does not trust him but other than that we really don't know about this character. He's popped up throughout the series as 1 of their teammates And I'm curious if we Will get more about him.

πŸ’œπŸ’You make the noise in my head quiet. And you make me brave enough to want thingsπŸ’œπŸ’

"I spent five years running, reinventing myself, and building a life where I was free. On the silks, I could fly. I could be anything, anyone. Now I'm right back where I started--trapped, helpless, at someone else's mercy." "Yet, something about him tethered me here, night after night, hiding in the shadows. Just until he stopped crying. Just to make sure...I don't know." "Wish I had someone just for me. Someone who could see past the damage and still want me. But I'm broken. Permanently. And no one stays with the broken pieces." "You're a possessive little s***. Marking your territory with your teeth and nails. Stinging like a little scorpion. Such a dangerous pet." "If I could go back, if I could change everything...maybe things would be different. Maybe neither of us would be so broken." "I want to care for Merci too. Want to protect him. Posses him. Make him mine." "Maybe we're both finding pieces of ourselves we thought we'd lost. And maybe we can help each other put them back together." "He makes me want to be more, to understand the things I can't process, to feel the things I can't name." "Then we're both broken. But with you...with you, I feel whole." "When you cry, I want to destroy whatever hurt you. When you laugh...everything feels lighter. And when others touch you, I want to break their f****** fingers." "That's oddly romantic and terrifying at the same time." This was such a phenomenal and amazing book. This series keeps getting better and better.…

Book 4 | Zach + Merci

North Shore Titans Hockey: Book 4 ● KU ● Zach + Merci By far my favorite! Most likely because it was much longer and felt way more fleshed out. I've been looking forward to Zach's story since he was first mentioned. I was completely intrigued by him, and he was not at all what I was expecting in the best way. Merci is a chaotic menace, and I love the hell out of him. He definitely gives Viktor a run for his money. The love declaration was still a little jarring. I think this is just pacing on the author's part. It always seems to pop up out of nowhere just as the couple starts getting more in tune with each other. My favorite part of this series so far (I think) is the strong found family vibe.
