irst Step really hit me in a way I wasn’t expecting. It’s not just about a nightclub—it’s about that terrifying, electric moment of choosing to be seen.
The Glass Heel feels almost mythical, like the kind of place you hear about in whispers and wonder if it could possibly be real. I loved how it’s described as somewhere you don’t have to perform or explain yourself—you just get to exist. That idea alone carries so much emotional weight.
Claire’s first night there is simple on the surface—an emerald dress, a racing heart, stepping through a door—but it feels monumental. The story captures that mix of fear and hope so well. It understands how big a “small” step can be, especially when it’s your first one.
What stood out to me most was the atmosphere. The club feels alive, almost like it’s watching and welcoming at the same time. There’s a quiet tenderness in the way the story treats Claire’s vulnerability. It doesn’t rush her. It lets the moment breathe.
If you’re looking for something flashy or dramatic, this isn’t that. It’s intimate. It’s about courage in its most personal form. And sometimes, that kind of story is exactly what you need.
Beautifully written spicy novel about self discovery
This book is beautifully written. The author doesn't just write with words, they paint. Every scene is laid out so you feel like you can actually see the story instead of just read it.
This is a spicy romance novel that moves pretty quickly. Claire is learning to be comfortable in her own skin and accept who she is. The spicy scenes are done in a way that it covers the complex feelings that someone who is going through this might feel but in a way that doesn't seem sad or overly awkward.
This novel also shows that it's ok to be scared but you shouldn't let it keep you from doing the things you want to do. Claire was terrified of going out even though she really wanted to. She was terrified to be herself. She was terrified of the rejection she thought she was going to get from the other patrons in the club or people out on the street or even the bouncer. But she faced her fears and did the scary things anyways. And she had an amazing time and got to finally be the person she wanted to be.

First Step is an engaging and emotional read that tackles the subject of self-discovery and accepting who you are as an individual.
Claire's first night out as herself culminates at the Glass Heel nightclub. She is scared and could easily change her mind to go away, but instead, she takes the first step inside the Glass Heel.
This isn’t your average romance novel. While there absolutely has to be love, the epic love story here belongs to Claire, who embarks on the greatest love of all: discovering love in the form of acceptance of herself. First Step leaves you long after the final page has been turned because of the love story that unfolds here.

A fresh, empowering, and unforgettable contemporary romance!
First Step is an absolute standout bold, vibrant, and full of heart. Tatiana Vixen Reyes introduces readers to a world that’s fierce and fun, with characters who feel real, flawed, and wholly captivating. I loved how the story blends emotional depth with light-hearted moments, all while delivering a romance that’s passionate and compelling.
The chemistry between the leads is electric and fun, but what truly sets this story apart is the character growth and authenticity. The emotional journey is honest and uplifting, making every moment feel meaningful. The pacing is spot-on, and the writing is engaging, colorful, and impossible to put down.
If you’re looking for a romance with personality, heat, heart, and empowering vibes, First Step is a must-read. I devoured it and can’t wait for more!
New identity, romance without shame
Thank you for this book. I know it is a fictional character, but I fine peace in knowing that romance is found for those seeking it when ready to face their new identity. I love how the author frame’s it for Claire that there is no shame, simply a first for a new identity. I find joy and love in stories like this, the coming into a new sense of peace and balance in a world previously seen with fear and guilt. Please write more of these stories, I want to see this character flourish.
