Description

Seven years ago, Ewan Fate fled Siren’s Point with the firm intention of never looking back. But when a crushing creative block brings his career as an artist to a grinding halt, he finds himself retreating to the one place he swore he’d escape: the foggy, familiar shores of his east coast hometown. He arrives hoping for a temporary sanctuary to rediscover his muse, but he quickly discovers that the town’s small-town gossip and salty air are unchanged—and so are his feelings for the man he left behind. Shiloh Lepage has spent nearly a decade waiting for a ghost. While he works the endless, rhythmic labor of the lobster boats, his heart remains anchored to the boy who walked away seven years ago. Trapped in a stagnant life and a weary routine, Shiloh never imagined the silence between them would break. When Ewan reappears, the chemistry that once defined their youth ignites with even greater intensity, forcing them to confront the fears that drove them apart and the stubborn, magnetic pull that is drawing them back together. Against the picturesque backdrop of a coastal town where secrets are as deep as the ocean, Ewan and Shiloh must decide if their connection is a lingering relic of the past or the finest kind of fate.

I want to live in this book

It’s hard to put into words precisely how much I loved this book. As far as I’m concerned, Shiloh and Ewan are real people, and Siren’s Point is a real place.

Review ✨

We all know I’m going to read anything J.J. Mulder writes. We get the small town and friends to lovers tropes, which are some of my favorites. Super cozy and cute. The vibes make you feel warm, like reading in bed with a hot cup of coffee. Even though I loved the book and I NEED Nils and Oliver’s story, I feel like this first one focused more on Ewan’s insecurities instead of giving us more sweet moments between Shiloh and Ewan. Anyway, anything J.J. Mulder writes is definitely a yes for me.

Wow. Just, wow. 10/10 No notes.

I thought I loved JJ's writing before this book. I thought I had my favorite couples and characters figured out. I thought I knew her range of emotional depth, her talents for character development. I thought I KNEW what to expect from her stories. She was holding back. Or just getting started. She's made me tear up before, but she made me cry with how real Ewan and Shiloh's emotions were. And they TALKED about them! With each other! Granted, after a 7 year estrangement... but life is life, ya know? This book set a pretty high bar for the series and I fully trust JJ Mulder to deliver. I am in love with all of the characters we've met, even cold as ice Dryden Roy. He's the type of character that you both want to hate but also see there is more to him than he's outwardly showing... if you just look hard enough. He's intriguing and I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for him. It's official. Anything JJ Mulder writes, I'll read. No matter what. She's an author you can trust and I hope she has an endless supply of stories left in her, because I need more just like this one.

nice change of setting and relationship

I enjoyed the change in setting and relationship in the book by J.J. Mulder. I’ve read her other books in the hockey series, and I like and recognize the small town vibe of this book. Definitely check it out.

Meh.. DNF at 63%

It was a promising premise. But the execution lacked any excitement what so ever. Unfortunately, it was uninteresting enough to put down, and so I did at 63%. But if you want an easy read with basic plot and long lost beasties to lovers, then this may be for you.
