Description

Returning to her small-town roots should have been simple, but for Maya, it feels like walking into a minefield of past expectations. She left home searching for the woman she was meant to be, and now she is back, living her truth and navigating the complexities of a community that remembers a version of her that no longer exists. The only constant in the shifting landscape is Liam, her childhood best friend whose steady presence has always felt like home. As they reconnect, the friendship they once shared begins to fray under the weight of unspoken feelings and the genuine obstacles that stand between them. This is not a story that brushes past the realities of transition or the sting of prejudice. Instead, it confronts the friction of small-town life head-on, offering an unflinching look at the courage it takes to be seen and loved for exactly who you are. Their journey is slow-burn, deeply emotional, and profoundly tender. If you are searching for a romance that celebrates the power of vulnerability, the strength of self-discovery, and a love that refuses to be bound by labels, you have finally found your next favorite read.

Exceptional and charming

This book was exactly what I wanted. So many other trans woman/cis male romances shy away from the obstacles that might get in the way of the relationship by using surgery or just not talking about it. This is the exact opposite a heart wrenching character study of Sally and her feelings. I absolutely loved it, her and Oliver were wonderful together and the plot did a great job getting everyone where they needed to be by the end. I want to read more about these characters for sure.

Lovely Read!

This novel was absolutely beautiful. I love the way it was written, the words flowed together very well, and the story was such a great read. I do recommend researching all TWs in this story, as Estelle is not playing around when it comes to what she put in her book. If you have experienced any of the TWs put in this book, it can be very, very emotional for you. This was such a new thing for me to read – I have never read a book about a trans main character before, and it wasn’t hard for me to get into at all! The way everything was put into the story was wonderful and I was able to feel the impact of the struggles Sally faced very well. I loved all the relationships that were put into the story, and I really enjoyed reading all the growth that each character had. The story was lovely from start to finish.

Contemporary romance, Emotional, Highly recommended

6 🌟; 2/5 🥵 If you ask me what your most emotional reads in 2024 then I have no hesitation shouting out “Finding My Name” by Estelle Grant. The Journey that Sally and Oliver go through brings me so many emotions. They bring me many feelings of Sadness, pain and their difficulty and the way they deal with their struggle just brings tears to my eyes. I still can’t believe this is Estelle's debut and Just thinking about what Sally went through and also what Estelle went through makes me love both of them more and from now on Estelle will always have my support. The way she writes is just so realistic yet so dreamy at the same time. This is so far one of unique and beautiful writing styles. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to feel all the emotions.
