Description

The journey toward healing is rarely a straight line, and for Jess, the road ahead is paved with both lingering grief and the fragile promise of something new. Picking up the threads left behind in the aftermath of loss, this second installment of the Losing Sam series moves beyond the initial shock of tragedy to explore the complex, messy, and deeply rewarding process of rebuilding a life. As Jess navigates the hollow spaces her former life has left behind, she must grapple with the shifting nature of her identity and the courage it takes to open her heart again. The narrative flows with a natural, human grace, perfectly capturing the push and pull of moving forward when a piece of your past still feels like home. Through intimate prose and emotional honesty, the story dives deep into the realities of modern lesbian romance, portraying the beauty of finding connection amidst the remnants of heartbreak. Whether she is confronting old memories or risking vulnerability with someone unexpected, Jess’s evolution is both grounding and heart-wrenching. This is a must-read for anyone who loves an authentic exploration of love’s resilience and the quiet strength found in choosing to start over.

This is the second book in the series. Book one being Losing Sam. I loved the first book so I was so excited to find out there was a second book. Jess and Sam’s story continues a couple years after Losing Sam. Sam is trying to sell her software company and she needs to integrate her software with a new financial firm. The person overseeing the project is her childhood best friend Liz and also Jess’s current girlfriend. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. It’s just as good as the first one, if not better. I also enjoyed getting more of Sam’s backstory as well as her internal thoughts as this book is from Sam’s POV. Beautiful conclusion to their story. Lots of emotions so be prepared! 😁

My heart

This book had me in a chokehold. I feel like I went through it with these characters, took me through some emotions. She stepped her game up with the writing and I felt it. It was so good. I can't even move on now. I don't want to let go of the characters. I can't pick up another book after that. I need a minute.

Well done

Nicole Maser’s Finding Jess is the much-awaited sequel to Losing Sam, her story of two high school seniors, Sam, a lesbian, and Jess, who starts to reconsider her sexuality after meeting Sam. The two, each of whom lost her mother at an early age, meet while volunteering at a drug rehab clinic. After two unsuccessful attempts to begin a relationship, it’s now eight years later, and Sam happens to be working in Seattle, where unbeknownst to Sam, Jess is living. As in the past, seeing each other stirs a myriad of feelings, some welcome and some unsettling. Maser masterfully crafts their interactions to peel back the women’s layers, break down and rebuild their walls, get in touch with their anger and affection, and resolve what they really want. You’ll want to jump into Finding Jess immediately after finishing Losing Sam, so I’d advise buying or borrowing them both at the same time.

Very happy there was a sequel

I read a lot of romance novels through Kindle unlimited. Rarely do I purchase one. I purchased the first installment in this series because I enjoyed it and wanted to read it again. It was a pleasant surprise to see there was a sequel. The books are well written, the characters likable, and the author has a way of crafting the plot to create sexual and emotional tension and angst, relieve the tension, and then build it up again without destroying the characters or making them seem too ridiculous. I’m looking forward to more books by this author that strike that balance in the ebb and flow of creating and releasing tension that makes a good angsty (without being over the top) romance.

sheeeeeesh!!!!

I was not at all ready for the emotional roller coaster that Sam and Jess put me through. But I can say I am so glad I read Every. Single. Page. I love them both and I love the amount of growth they did as individuals, as adults, as friends and lovers. There was just not one point in this well written book, by Nicole Maser, that I thought “that doesn’t make sense”. Everything was perfect and an absolute must have. I would love to see a bonus chapter or two on the future but I won’t be upset if there isn’t. Thank you again Nicole and please do us a service and do NOT stop writing! Such a huge fan and supporter.
