This story is not for the faint hearted but it’s actually not as dark as I thought it was going to be based the reviews. I truly liked and enjoyed it and hope to read more from this author. Just a couple of things I would have liked seeing. Most of the book the MCs spent tittle time together before they moved to a problem. A lot of short scenes together. Only at the very end finally do we get extended time together like twice which is not enough. I would have liked more extended intimacy even if it’s dark and twisted. Also, I feel that the backdrop throughout the entire story was lacking. The story had a 2D quality to it because there was no much description about the environment. I mean so they were in a mansion and a room but please give it a bit more description and life. Where are these people working from. At one time I think Dante was having a meeting at one of his businesses but it wasn’t clear if it was in a building in the city. There is not enough detail for the reader to figure out how rich Dante is. It’s a good start and I line the dark themes but honestly there was little of it.

This story should work. This book should work but it’s like nobody edited it beyond pushing it thru a spellcheck. Time is a vacuum including transporting a kidnapped Nyx to Dante in minutes from New York to Philadelphia. Somehow the east river separates the volkov and malakov territory and the action is Brighton beach and Newark? An office is called a cellar other word replacements are oddities when describing people. This book should have been a 5 star read but it needs so much work. I can’t convince myself to read the other books because they feature 2 characters this book pretty much implies would be dead and a political marriage a winning family has no reason to agree to.

I genuinely do not understand why this book is not way more popular. Leo is one of the most unhinged, chaotic, hilarious, and deeply lovable characters I have ever read in an MM romance. This man hacks entire systems just to get Dante’s attention. He forces printers to churn out endless plant poems. He hijacks the audio system to blast a duck song on repeat. The commitment to chaos is unmatched. I laughed out loud more than once. But he is not just comic relief. Beneath the gremlin energy is someone vulnerable, sharp, and painfully human. You understand him. You root for him. He is feral and sympathetic at the same time, which is such a rare balance. And the sexual tension between him and Dante is absolutely insane. It is palpable. I found myself physically leaning forward during some of their scenes. It feels violent in the way a lightning storm feels violent. Charged. Crackling. Dangerous. Every interaction hums with it. The push and pull, the restraint, the moments where it almost snaps. It is electric. The humor makes the darkness sharper. The darkness makes the desire more intense. The balance is masterful. This book deserves so much more hype. If you love dark MM romance with chaotic brilliance, elite banter, and tension you can practically feel in your bones, do not sleep on this.

I was scrolling and saw this and decided to read on a whim not expecting anything. Color me surprised, this is freaking incredible. It’s freaking darkkkk but so well-written. I have no words to describe this experience. I went on a dive and found out this is the authors debut novel, that is an incredible feat. It has possessive/obsessive otp men, like they’re both unhinged. Nyx gets taken and instead of being afraid has the opposite reaction. I’m so sad that there isn’t a physical copy of this book out because I would have jumped so fast to get it. I can’t wait for what the author has in store. Please reflect on the triggers, this is honestly morally black man with a psychotic hacker.
