Being from Decatur ,Georgia ,I found this wonderful tale made me homesick and joyful
In the dark days we live in ,when I find a story that makes me truly laugh with joy as well as cry it also puts hope back into being a possibility for this world. Thank you Casey Morales for your powerful ,wonderfilled tales - I have read most of them . This one was not perhaps as grand as some of your powerful sagas ,but the beautiful, poignant ,and amazingly fun story of these two opposite - type protagonists was the very best elixir for me exactly when I needed it ! It lifted my heart and I thank you for your amazing GIFT of spinning another magical tale . May God bless you and your loved ones always - I am truly grateful.
I loved Patrick and Dane’s story. Sparks fly when they first meet, and then Patrick gets an assignment from his paper to contact Dane’s fire station. The two of them become closer, but when Patrick’s assignment changes to something way more serious, and he doesn’t share that with Dane, the relationship suffers immediately.
IMO, one characteristic of a great story are great secondary characters, and this book has some amazing ones.
As I said, I loved Patrick and Dane. So much so, that when I knew the big reveal of Patrick’s story was about to happen, I stopped reading the novel for a while, because I didn’t want to see them torn apart. That’s how invested I was in them!
Anyways, it’s a great story, and I highly recommend reading it.
Casey has become a better and better author. This book has an “ok” premise, but the writing keeps it interesting and fresh.
Lots of internal dialogue by both main characters, but along with “boy meets boy” we get interesting twists from newspaper developments to gay softball games.
The main character stumbles and grows into a more mature adult while learning some painful truths.
The heartstrings are there, but this book is more than a sweet romance.
Some very spicy scenes between the major characters that sizzles...Definitely an adult storyline! ;)
Twenty pages shy of 500! And worth every reading hour to boot! I have never laughed out loud so much through the first one third of the story; only to fall into suspense over the goings on between the two main characters; to then be pulled back into so funny...at times hysterically funny that I had to re-read the sentence because I laughing too much...only to begin laughing all over again. This is one of those stories that is so well written by the author that takes one on many ups and downs, but through it all the characters are well balanced with realistic dialog and a bunch of secondary characters that are also well created that it all feels so realistic I think perhaps this author spent some time in a firehouse! This readers is a great read! Don't miss it because not only is it funny, but it is filled with some very spicy scenes between the major characters that sizzles...hot, hot, hot! Definitely an adult storyline! ;)
