False Comeback: Goliaths of Wrestling, Book 4

BLOWN AWAY WITH THIS READ THAT IS HUMOROUS, BEAUTIFUL, HEART FELT AND SUCH WILD SHENANIGANS INVOLVED! I was looking so forward to Crossbody's and Vince's story. Getting snippets with these two throughout the series made me want to know more. These two are definitely not what they seem, and they have such hidden depths and vulnerabilities that touched my heart. First off, yes, this book definitely made me laugh so hard at moments and the steam/passion between these two, just holy wowzers! But we get a closer look at Crossbody and his past and inner thoughts, and this helped me understand him so much better, and I just made me love him. The same can be said about Vince, and I loved seeing his point of view (though I really liked him already and now plain love him). These two are absolutely delicious and intense, and it was wonderful to see them realize they have a special connection together. The journey these two went on together before realizing they are it for each other is amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the shenanigans in this read, and to be honest, I loved this book. Glorious story with beautiful writing and beyond memorable characters! I am looking forward to more reads from this series.

I never saw this coming—hint hint, "Yes, Sir"—but I’m not here to spoil the fun! The dynamic between Vince and Crossbody is a perfect example of the fine line between love and hate, but wow, the chemistry and compatibility between them are off the charts. I absolutely loved how the love story developed, not just in terms of romance but also as we learned about how their pasts shaped them into who they are as adults. It’s a powerful reminder of how our families can both shape and break us. I was truly surprised by the depth and vulnerability Crossbody hid so well. He’s not just the tough exterior we see at first glance—he has layers of insecurities that were revealed in such a clever way. Vince, on the other hand, was equally caught off guard by this. However, I did feel a bit frustrated with Vince at times, especially when he judged Crossbody based on his title and the way he spoke, unconsciously pushing him to the margins. Lady Potato is the perfect princess for our sweet, lonely prince, and Frank and Beans—good grief, they are a menace! I couldn’t stop laughing at the chaos they caused. Poor Vince will never be the same after that, especially without those pants! The Lizard Grandma part was a fun surprise, and I was definitely craving more from Ethel—she’s absolutely badass. I was actually a bit nervous about this one! But I should know that I can trust Lily Mayne at this point. Goliaths of Wrestling is fun, funny, super spicy, and, all in all, a good time. False Comeback is a bit more serious at times than the previous books, it still has the laughs, fun, and shenanigans of the Goliaths. And it definitely doesn't reach the seriousness of some of Mayne's other series. They are not pleasant to each other at the beginning of this book. This was the part I was nervous about. While a good enemies to lovers can be amazing, I can get really uncomfortable when the MCs are really mean to each other. And I am not going to pretend I wasn't uncomfortable during the early intimacy scenes, before certain discussions occurred. Even with my early discomfort, the characters, their dynamics, and their realizations about each other made me quickly move past those feelings. Getting to know Vince and Crossbody, learning more of their histories, made their needs make a lot of sense. And in the end, it all came together. I absolutely love this series so much and I have to say, book 4 took my breath away and is now my favorite 😍 in the series. Book 1 is my second lol 😂. The SPICE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I have recommended this series to my friends and even my local inclusive bookstore, it’s that good!
