Description

Sage is a woman who has spent her life running from the shadows, convinced that normalcy is the only shield against the terrors of the night. Her carefully constructed, quiet existence is shattered the moment she encounters Remy, a captivating stranger who carries an unmistakable, predatory grace. As an undeniable electricity sparks between them, Sage is pulled into a hidden society where the line between human and monster is dangerously thin. In Dark Haven, Brey Willows weaves a hypnotic tale of survival and surrender. It is not merely a story of supernatural suspense, but a deep exploration of the vulnerability that comes with truly opening your heart to someone else. As Sage unravels the secrets of Remy’s world, she must decide if the risk of becoming prey is worth the intoxicating promise of belonging. This is a story built on searing chemistry and high-stakes tension, where the most terrifying thing isn't the vampire in the dark, but the overwhelming power of a forbidden connection. Willows delivers a sophisticated, character-driven romance that pulses with atmospheric dread and burning passion, proving that in the darkest of havens, love is the most potent and dangerous magic of all.

loved it!

Vampires have come out into the open, trying to live life as best they can. Sage Samara, Internet Influencer, throws herself into the middle of vampire society to show her support and that vampires aren't bad. They'd just like humans, after all. But things aren't all that they seem, with schemes simmering under the surface and about to go pear-shaped, and finding Remy more than a little hot, the vampire who got them their rights, is more than just an added complication. I absolutely loved this book, right from the start till I finished the last page, disappointed that I had reached the end. It's the kind of vampire story that appeals to me, especially with the sizzling attraction between Sage and Remy that hints that perhaps there might be more to it. The story is well written and engaging (I couldn't put it down and just kept reading), with plenty of plots going on and a healthy dose of action as well that all played out well, the world building is interesting and well done, the characters curious and likable, and the romance top-notch. There is a lot to learn about the characters, where they came from and what they can do, and it certainly adds to the tale. Having my favourite trope present as well is just an added bonus. As I said, definitely the type of story that I love, and highly recommended.

A great vampire story! really!

A great vampire story with some fresh takes on vampiric culture and history. I liked it a lot! The characters were convincing. Also, adapting vampires to contemporary culture with social media, technology, and open conferences in hotels was excellently done. I loved the MCs’ arc, and how their personal development depended on how much they got to know each other. Despite a short time frame, it still felt realistic enough. Overall this is a great paranormal romance with some suspense and action to spice it up. Great pacing helps make it an easy read. T&T: Tropes: soulmates (OTP), vampires, age gap, butch/femme, political conflict, just one bed Triggers: open-door sex scenes, violence on and off page, racism, losing a parent, mentions of war and death by fire. Rating: 4.5 stars

sink your teeth into this

Yes, this is a predictable book, but ya know what? Doesn't matter one iota; it's damn near perfection. Always looking for a good vampy fiction and from the characters to the dialogue and plot this book delivers- hands down, bar none. You'll love the MCs, and phew, those love scenes are steamy so pace thyself. The plot is believable, especially in this day and age- vamps aside. It will take you a hot minute to warm up to the influencer, but once she plants some roots and does a wee bit of growing, colliding with the MC is a delicious affair. Highly recommend.

What could go wrong? Vampires have “come out” and human Internet influencer, Sage Samara, is intent on getting an interview.

Dark Haven may just be the best novel Brey Willows has written. Her first foray into the horror genre brings us a cross- species relationship smack dab in the middle of a potential vampire-human Civil War. ZimTak influencer Sage Samara has no idea what she’s gotten herself into when her request for an interview at the vampire retreat, Dark Haven, is granted. Remy Winslow, founder of Dark Haven, and architect of the vampires’ “coming out,” is Sage’s reluctant interviewee. Shall we just say, sparks fly from the moment they meet, and both of their lives will be changed forever. The narrative is tight, the sex is scintillating and this vampire-loving lesbian was not disappointed. Looking for that last Summer read? Grab this book and settle in for a few hours of guilty pleasure!
