Oh wow- this story really surprised me! I was expecting a passionate romance, but instead got a thrilling murder mystery. The romance was secondary, but the longing and yearning throughout was quite electifiying.
Just the gist...
Billionaire, ice queen, business woman, Naomi, was asked to guard her best friend's sister, Saanya, who is being hunted by mystery hitmen who had just murdered her husband.
The author brilliantly skims through dark details, but was still able to illustrate deep emotion throughout the story. I felt every moment and it was such a ride!
Rich character development, thrilling, and warms the soul
The tender way she loves her characters shines through gloriously. You can feel the interior worlds of each of these women as if they were your own. She allows you to want with them and for them, especially the yin and yang of each of their personalities and the desire for the melding of the two.
Many of the cultural emotional dealings around trauma feel palpable and are handled with care. Within their own traumas, the need for stoicism and sacrifice feels more interdependent than avoidant. The exploration of their selves and each other gives us the softness we hold dear while under high pressure circumstances gives us the thrill of all of the unknowns. You know what their decisions and vulnerabilities could cost them, and yet you can’t help but want them to throw caution to the wind and heal their wounds with their vulnerability as their strength.
This story made me feel brave and warm as well as very protective of of each of the women with the widely- relatable themes like trauma, grief, and cultural pressures.

This book has emotions and intrigue. It is a definite slow burn and has a bit of spice that's mild. The end of the book including the epilogue was heartwarming yet held sadness. So if you are looking for a slow burn with longing, awakenings, love, corporate and illegal activity. Then this is the book you need to read. I honestly really enjoyed it.
One of my best reads so far
What a story! Codename Lotus had me hooked right at the first few pages, or rather, right at the book description. I mean… a live-or-dead situation for a woman who needs protection paired with a longtime unrequited childhood crush? This is a match made in heaven for me. A mix of suspense and romance. The best of both worlds.
