Description

In the heat-soaked, treacherous sprawl of the Black Oasis, danger is a constant companion—but for the inhabitants of this gritty wasteland, the most unexpected threats are often the ones that spark the deepest connections. Bump in the Night returns to this atmospheric setting, weaving a narrative that balances the harsh realities of survival with a tender, burgeoning romance that feels both earned and inevitable. As a transgender protagonist navigating a world that demands resilience, the journey here is one of self-discovery amidst a backdrop of shadows and uncertainty. The narrative excels in its ability to soften the hard edges of its dystopian environment, layering in moments of quiet intimacy and authentic emotional weight. It is a story that refuses to sacrifice character development for action, proving that even in a place where monsters lurk just beyond the horizon, the most transformative power lies in being truly seen by another person. Readers who fell for the unique chemistry and world-building of the series will find this installment both charming and deeply grounding. It is an exploration of vulnerability disguised as a tension-filled adventure, offering a reading experience that is as heart-fluttering as it is memorable.

adored

I think I enjoyed this one so much more than the second! I loved the setting of Lau’s cozy little cottage. Picturing was it an absolute dream. I loved his personality stubborn, loves to bicker, but he secretly has such a sweet side. Ivy and him are so cute together. I also love that their name is Ivy and Lau is into herbal medicine. They just made such a cute fit together. Also Vari? Way to save the day! I was kinda irritated at his character at the beginning but I grew to adore him as well. Then actually pulling out facts and bringing them back together. Excited to read more by both authors.

Fantastic

I love this so freakin much. I wish I could read both of them again for the first time. Vari is hilarious! Ivy is perfect. And Lau is so fragile and hides it behind snark. I love these characters so much.

Can Moth and Lau be best friends?

Lily and Nikole noticed everyone’s obsession with Moth from the Monstrous series, and wrote us another affection-starved, white haired, elf-looking loner... And I for one am here for it. There’s some unique differences to Lau that are sweet, and his love story with Ivy is so endearing. We finally get to see why Pomeranians are terrifying in the demon world, what the human world thinks of Cody’s disappearance, and what the deal is with Black Oasis. Overall this was a fun read, and I LOVED the enby representation. Spice: 4/5 Angst: 2-3/5 (check TWs)

💗

I loved this. That was a completely different story in the first in the series, and I loved that. The dynamic between the MMC’s what is tension filled, but not uncomfortable. Lots of hurt and comfort, and found family. Really no one does found family like Lily Mayne and Nik knight.

Deadly Pomeranian

This was adorable. I loved all the characters - even those I started off not liking. I hope Vari gets his own book - that ridiculous himbo needs his own romance! The joke about Pomeranians looking like a fearsome beast in the demon world really paid off in this book. Ivy and Lau are an adorable couple. They are both too stubborn for their own good and care so much about each other.
