Description

Sarah Gallagher operates on a foundation of rigid responsibility. As a high-powered attorney and the linchpin of her unique family structure, she has built her life on steady predictability. But when a new professional opportunity demands she navigate the cutthroat world of corporate titans, she finds herself locked in a tactical dance with the one person she never calculated for: Nell Stanhope. Nell is the master of her own billion-dollar domain, a woman who treats both business and intimacy with the same chilling precision. She views life as a series of moves to be controlled and outcomes to be orchestrated. However, Sarah is not just another opponent; she is sharp, ambitious, and refuses to be sidelined by Nell’s icy exterior. As their professional entanglement deepens into a volatile, high-stakes game of wills, the boundaries between power and vulnerability begin to blur. What starts as a clash of egos transforms into a magnetic rivalry that threatens to unmake everything they’ve meticulously built. In the heart of this boardroom obsession, both women must decide if winning the game is worth the risk of being completely undone by the one person who finally understands the weight of their crown.

might not be for everyone..

I apologize because not sure my review is fair. Loved the first book this one.. found the initial relationship between Sarah and Nell uncomfortable. Wasn’t crazy for the submissive behavior, or the way Beth took Sarah so much for granted. Honestly how Sarah was treated by the family. It was hard to read without getting angry. However that it invoked such emotions tells me the book was well written. Why I think my review is unfair.

A must read!

Balancing Act, the author’s debut novel, was a great read, but the 2nd book in the Soulmate Series, Breadwinner, is now sorted into the amazing category. I highly recommend this book to everyone that is up for a reading experience that is a bit different from a standard romance, things are a bit complicated and make you think, which is exactly the type of book I love. I loved Sarah already in the first book and felt her pain in her interactions with her ex-wife Beth. When Beth met Jamie, it got to a whole new level of self-harm for her, Sarah is still so completely in love with Beth but must keep on pretending all is good to be a good co-parent to their daughter Lily. This must be so painful for Sarah, and you feel all that when reading the book, how she can cope is beyond me, Beth is stringing her on, having her as a back-up, even though she has chosen Jamie and not Sarah. Fortunately, the billionaire Cornelia Stanhop, Nell, sees Sarah, is intrigued by this strong woman and has a proposal for her, a strategic companionship in which both parties benefit. Nell needs a plus-one for events, and in return she can help Sarah to meet the right people. There is no pretence of romance but something very different but handled in a very loving way. That Nell is taking control is something Sarah needs at this stage in her life, she needs to learn to let go for once, that can be so freeing, she is finally seen. Nell is an amazing person, so much more to her then meets the eye, she…

Breadwinner for the Win!

As much as I loved the first book in this series, I have to admit that I immediately fell in love (big and little “l”) with Nell. I had already admired Sarah from book 1 so the addition of Nell to the picture was absolutely perfect…they were BOTH “perfect”…just the way they are. I look forward to seeing how everyone’s stories continue into the next book of the series.

confusing

Just very confused on the aromantic part. I didnt think the character came across that way & it felt like a very forced sharp pivot of a plot point. Also a soulmate series but the characters aren’t meant for forever? Just some mixed messaging with this one. But other than that loved the characters & the book.
