Description

Jensen has officially sworn off men, which is just as well because his new employer is a walking complication. Tasked with restoring the sprawling, dusty library at the magnificent Beaumont Craven House, Jensen expects a routine job. What he gets instead is his new boss: an English nobleman who is every bit as brooding and mysterious as the gothic estates he inhabits. The man is an enigma—impossibly attractive, frustratingly distant, and harboring a silence that feels like a challenge. Jensen tries to keep his distance, reminding himself that this is strictly professional. But the nobleman keeps showing glimpses of a hidden, vulnerable side that acts like a siren song to Jensen’s resolve. One moment he’s the impenetrable lord, and the next, he’s the man Jensen finds himself wanting to protect. Before long, Jensen is blurring the lines of his employment, diving headfirst into the lord’s melancholic past. He keeps telling himself this is a temporary, casual arrangement, but his heart has already made other plans. In this intoxicating omegaverse romance, fate has its own agenda, proving that even the most stubborn hearts can be tamed when they find their perfect match.

This will have you kicking your feet 🥰

4.75⭐ This author is one whose books I'm always quick to pick up because I love her writing style. It's almost poetic, and her descriptors hit me in a unique way. She tends to do more contemporary romance, but this latest series dips into the omegaverse realm. While I enjoyed book one, I had a hard time connecting with one of the main characters, Lucien. He was just too high maintenance for my liking. Book two focuses on Jenson, Lucien's ex, and this book... THIS book, I loved! The story itself was good, but what drove my love for this book was Reign's typical poetic writing combined with some of the funniest dry & sarcastic humor. I can't count how many times I actually laughed out loud, which is a rarity for me when I read. The MMCs played so well off of each other. The unfolding of their story was all of the things you want when it comes to romance and the pacing of it was great. Whereas I wouldn't re-read book one, I'll definitely be picking this one up again.

A Delightful Snack

Jesse knows what I want, and she just keeps delivering! Jensen has big feelings, currently about his alpha brother mating his best friend. When he sulks off to Yorkshire to restore the library of a reclusive English lord, he becomes intrigued by the man’s beauty, lifestyle, and strange muted quality. Alfie, our beleaguered lord alpha, is equally fascinated by the omega Yank, but has dedicated himself to a lifetime of bachelorhood. Add one fake dating scheme and cue the shenanigans! Repressed aristocrat meets chaotic American is a favorite of mine, and Alfie is as repressed as they come. He’s also deeply sweet and wildly hot. Seriously, the primal play in this book is some of the best I’ve read. We see a friendship develop between them that is just downright fun, as well as brimming with sexual tension. Featuring a unique scenario of alpha x omega dynamics, the book is a delightful snack. Highly recommend for fans of omegaverse, forced proximity, and fake dating. This is the second book in the series and could be read as a standalone, but you really don’t want to miss Branson and Lucien in book one!

Holy Alpha that was hot!

This book was everything I was hoping it would be. The chemistry between Alphie and Jenson was incredible. When they finally get together, the language Jesse Reign uses to describe their romance is magical.

Their love was poetry Alfie and Jensen

This book gave me all of the FEELS!!! Oh my god, this story was so sweet, tender, and absolutely beautiful. I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook of the first book, Gone Wild, because it introduces Jensen, Lucien’s “beastly” ex, along with his equally “beastly” brother, Branson. It created such a smooth and emotional transition into this book when Jensen realizes he can’t stay in Seattle anymore and decides to leave. What I adored most about this story was how poetic it felt. The yearning, the selflessness, the grief of mourning a future you dreamed about since childhood—it was all written so beautifully. Jensen and Alfie’s relationship was built on such honesty, openness, and genuine friendship, and watching that connection slowly deepen into something more was incredible. As painful as it was seeing Jensen process his ex-boyfriend mating with his brother, his HEA was truly worth the wait because Alfie was worth the wait. This man loves so tenderly and so profoundly; he loves like poetry. I felt so deeply for Jensen when he discovered the truth about his brother and ex. That kind of heartbreak is not easy to process, so I completely understood why he accepted the job offer and moved to England. Even though he never intended for England to become his permanent home, someone very special made sure it became exactly that, his boss. Learning that his alpha boss had no scent, and then discovering the heartbreaking reason why, added so much emotional depth to the…

Born Wild

This was a fun follow up to Gone Wild. I was curious to see what Jesse was going to do to make this fresh compared to book one and she certainly did that with the introduction of Alfie and his specialty alpha tendencies. I felt like the fake dating side plot was mostly unnecessary in terms of the plot but it worked I guess. It introduced a few opportunities for them to see each other differently but I think that could have been achieved without throwing in this minor fake dating trope. The primal play was fun and I would have loved to see that get a little more intense. At about 260 pages, this was a quick read but I would have loved just a crumb more of Jensen's family finding out about his unexpected mating with Alfie. It was a very quick blip and I felt like that could have been fun to explore as well. Overall, I still had a fun time and would look forward to a book number three if it's in the cards for Jesse. If you've read and enjoyed Jesse's writing style in the past, this will probably hit for you. Big thanks to Jesse and her team for the advanced copy.
