Beautiful story with great steam!!
This was my first book by this author and it will definitely not be my last period. She writes incredibly detailed characters and does such a great job building world. The books also are very good length which makes for a really thorough story.
I love the vampire genre and it’s been done so frequently that it is so refreshing to get a new take and new character development.
Sebastian is a 500-year-old vampire. He is originally from Spain, which is important because he has history with the Spanish inquisitions. In the present, he lives in London andis in charge of a group of people that handle paranormal crime.
Flynn is a human from Ireland, who is a 25-year-old virgin running from some family issues and came to London. Right at the beginning of the story he gets hurt by a demon and that’s how he meets Sebastian.
When I said that this was an original take on vampire stories is that the author does such a great job at making Sebastian such a multilayered character. He comes from Spain and was part of the catholic church and the Spanish inquisition , and he played a part in people getting tortured and the guilt of that is something that he carries with him throughout his life. what I think is interesting is that a lot of times and stories where you have a character that’s hundreds of years old you don’t necessarily hear their history or what may haunt them. Besides his early life more recently he’s situations that’s made him close off from people and love. Because of that,…
This book is buckets of fun! With an adorable, hilarious cast of creatures and characters, it’s a promising start to a series. You can’t help but love every member of the team, including Flynn. He’s a bit of a drama king, desperately in need of someone to take care of him, but seeing as Sebastian is more than eager for the job. 🤷🏻♀️ Their relationship was SO very heartwarming from the first time they saw each other, and they sparkled with chemistry and cuteness every time they were on the page.
Like the other works I’ve read by this author, the plot has so many threads flapping around in the wind that it’s hard to keep up with them. As the book is primarily dedicated to the romance, this isn’t a huge problem, but occasionally, when the action scenes start up, you have an huge influx of questions and clues that you promptly forget a couple of pages later when it’s back to kisses and banter. Many of these were left unresolved at the end of Bite Marks and Broken Hearts (who is White and why didn’t she answer the phone? What happened to Issac? Does the mention of an unknown necromancer imply he’s still alive? What was up with Kit having an absence seizure there at the end? Etc) But since this is the beginning of a series, I assume the continuing story will answer these questions eventually.
Speaking of the end, it’s the only reason I rated this at four instead of five ⭐️. I enjoyed the first 90% of this SO much that I was already thinking about re-reads and buying a…

This was a really enjoyable and fun paranormal MM romance. I was engaged with the storyline throughout and really loved the dynamic between Flynn & Sebastián. I definitely have a soft spot for stories with hot ancient vampires in them! I also loved the whole Killigrew Street crew. Such a fun sort of chosen family aspect to the group. Each of the characters felt fully fleshed out and unique, and I loved the vibe of the hotel itself, being this cool haunted Victorian mansion, complete with secret doorways and tunnels. So fun! Looking forward to continuing the series!
What a great start to a new series. Great world build, with a cast of new family, and bad guys. I loved the love between everyone, and possibility of love to come. These two alone, thinking they would be alone forever, finding each other. Finding their forever. This book is long but it has to establish a new world with new people in it so the length was perfect. The writing was good the smexy was yumm, and the found family amazing. I can’t wait to see it grow. To see more people find their person.
My only gripe was the end. I was quite disappointed in how that all happened. The whole build up to this big thing that could be so devastating, and that’s how it was resolved… was not a fan. For those who read HEA, know this is a HFN because of the ending. Things were talked about as possibilities, but that’s as far as that went. Which for me isn’t great. I want forever.

action packed paranormal thriller AND swoony romance
Oh my goodness, if you want an action packed paranormal thriller AND swoony romance - look no further than Bite Marks and Broken Hearts! It combines high stakes drama with top tier slow burn vibes, making for a truly un-put-down-able read. If you love touch-starved vampires, found family shenanigans, and stories about finding love in unexpected places, get this book onto your spooky season TBRs!
Y'all, I was ALL IN on the sweet romance between Flynn and Seb. Seb is a 500 year old vampire, but he has some serious baggage holding him back from finding love. I am OBSESSED with how he immediately gets so protective over sweet Flynn after he's cursed by a demon. The chemistry between these two is IMMEDIATELY apparent - I was honestly getting some hardcore soulmates/fated mates vibes, they are so drawn to each other. Regardless, Flynn is inexperienced and Seb doesn't trust himself, so despite near constant tension the romance really builds throughout the book. I loved this though, as their relationship doesn't feel rushed, and I really got to enjoy all of the sweet moments between them during the build-up (and all of the "not flirting" Seb does).
There is a huge emphasis on found family in this book, and y'all I LOVED all of the fun side characters here! This book is the start of a new series, so I'm really hoping that we get books for some of my favorites. This book was the second of my Spooky Season Group Reads, and I think the whole "Feral for Forearms" (IYKYK) crew had a lot…
