A fabulous ice queen, coming out love story!
This book wraps you up in its "arms" and takes you on a journey. Kivi owns a guest house Sandy Dunes in Cornwall. Her constant companion is Toto a golden retriever. They both meet Saskia on the beach. And it's not an auspecious meeting. Later they find out that Saskia is a guest for 6 weeks in the guest house. As the two women start out butting heads, eventually they become close. They learn more about one another and it pulls them together. This is a fabulous ice queen, coming out love story!
There is mention of an eating disorder and homophobia.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! Not only do I LOVE IT, IT'S A FAVORITE! Worthy of 5 stars!!
This is the 2nd book I have read that is part of the series Bound By The Rainbow. In my first read, The Rainbow Lens, Saskia was so horrible in that book, she almost stopped her mum Lydia from finally getting her HEA with her childhood crush Gilly. Just like the first book this is such a great read, written with so much care and love for the main characters and their struggles. I now must make sure I read all books part of this series.
Saskia had to rethink her whole attitude after both her mum and brother came out as bisexuals, the hardest thing she ever had to do, but their relationship was mended. Now she also wants to start over regarding her career, she takes on a freelance writing gig in Cornwall, six articles, each exploring a different facet of Cornish life. Saskia crashes with the local Kivi from start. When she realizes she will stay at Kivi’s guesthouse for six weeks she really tries to apologize, she wants to become a nicer person.
With time Kivi and Saskia get along fine and Saskia is realizing that she is developing a crush for another woman, quite a shocker for a former homophobe. Kivi is so taken with Saskia as well but thinks it is impossible, Saskia is straight. It is wonderful to read about their slowly emerging romance, and I loved how Kivi supported Saskia to beat her purging disorder.
