Description

For Cat and Erin, the connection wasn’t just a childhood bond—it was a gravity they never learned how to escape. Back when they were young, their relationship was a silent language, a pulse of unspoken understanding that vanished the moment life steered them onto diverging paths. Twenty years later, the distance between them has finally collapsed, but the women who stand before each other are shadows of the girls they once were. Cat has spent decades navigating the chaos of a life without control, while Erin has exhausted herself building homes for people who could never truly love her back. Reunited by circumstance, they find that the magnetic pull of their youth hasn't dulled with age; it has only sharpened. As they settle into a tentative, rekindled friendship, the boundaries begin to dissolve, forcing them to look back at the past with newfound clarity. Was the tether between them ever just friendship? Now, they stand at a precarious crossroads. To embrace their history is to risk the safety of their current lives, but to ignore it would be to surrender to a regret that has lasted a lifetime. Some connections don’t fade—they simply wait for the right moment to bloom.

Deeply moving

Sometimes you get to read a book that is special. I just connected with the story. There are always times when we lose contact with friends. And this story deals with how that separation can effect our outlook on life and how we deal with that. Cat and Erin were best friends in high school. Cat moved away and contact was lost. Abigail deals with how that shaped their life going forward. Cat gave up control and Erin lost trust in people. I felt deeply both of their experiences. Abigail's writing is just so realistic and just pulled me into their lives. I felt like they were friends and I was invested in their wellbeing. That is talent. I really hated for the book to end. I did love the humorous fun parts. Also the spicy parts are hot like only Abigail can do. I am sure you will enjoy Before We Knew as much as I do.
