Ferry Rides, Quiet Moments, and Emotional Depth
Balancing Act by Cass Morgan really surprised me in the best way. From the start, the world-building between Seattle and Bainbridge Island felt so vivid and grounded that I honestly felt like I was moving through those spaces alongside the characters. The ferry rides, the quiet moments, the contrast between city and island life — it all felt incredibly real and intimate.
I also felt a genuine connection to the characters themselves. As their layers slowly peeled back, it was a joy to witness their interactions and experiences — even (and especially) their darker moments. They felt fully human, flawed, and honest, which made their journeys all the more compelling.
What stayed with me most was how gently Morgan handled some very heavy themes. Illness, heartbreak, and grief are woven into the story with so much care and emotional honesty. Nothing felt rushed or overly dramatic; instead, the emotions were allowed to unfold naturally, making the story feel deeply human and relatable.
This book isn’t loud or flashy — it’s soft, reflective, and emotionally resonant in a way that sneaks up on you. Balancing Act is the kind of story that sits with you after you’ve finished, reminding you of how fragile and beautiful life can be, and how we’re all just trying to find our footing. I really loved it and I’m so excited for more!
Idk how, but I was hooked right away by this book.
First, let me be honest, I was not rooting for Beth and Jamie in the beginning. Yes, they had an extremely hott first encounter, but it was soon obvious that neither of them should be looking to get involved with anyone. I quickly realized that this was more of a drama than a romcom... it was their journey.
What kept me going in the story was Beth's daughter, Lily. I was so invested in her training and seeing whether or not she was going to make it to the Olympics. Hey, I'm a fan - go sports! Really, it was everyone else's involvement in Lily's life that brought it all together for me.
This was a good story, but there were heavier themes than romance. Definitely worth the read! I look forward to Sarah's story next.

This was truly an exceptional and captivating read, featuring intricate character development and a compelling plot that kept me engaged from start to finish.
Slow burn, deep mental struggles - then a flaming love affair
This story is actually about a three some…really, a quartet of lovers. Or, at least, of women who love each other. The frustration is deeply described, and the pace feels right.
