Description

Jamie Petty has perfected the art of the vanishing act. Living a life behind the bar, she keeps her connections superficial and her heart under lock and key. She is a woman untethered, comfortable in the chaos of her own making, until a devastating phone call forces her into an entirely new role: guardian to her young niece, Hailey. Thrust into the confusing, messy reality of parenthood while drowning in grief, Jamie realizes she cannot do this alone. In a moment of desperation, she reaches out to Ava, the former best friend who vanished from her life years ago without a word. Ava’s return is meant to be a temporary rescue, but as they navigate the sleepless nights and emotional hurdles of raising a child, the distance between the two women begins to dissolve. What starts as a pact of necessity evolves into something far more profound as shared mornings turn into a fragile, blooming romance. An Unexpected Family is a poignant, warm-hearted exploration of what it means to heal. It is a story about the quiet courage required to lower your guard and the beautiful, transformative power of choosing the family you want to keep.

A Heartbreaking & Heartwarming Story💕

This was my first book by this author. Just liking the title and the summary caught my interest. I was not disappointed. I loved the flow of the story. The character build and of course the little wild bundle that made this book so much more. The three mains were executed perfectly. When you start with unbelievable pain and then need to proceed for someone bigger than you, the story can go off the rails. But this one stayed with it. I enjoyed it and recommend it. Now I need to check this writer and her other works out….

Good story

This is my third Rankin book. The first I liked, a lot, even with errors. The second, not at all. This one was a good story, with some story errors(wrong age from one chapter to another)and punctuation errors, but it was good. I'll keep reading her books. Just wish the sci-fi was good. That, and fantasy, are my favs.

What a very good book!!!

I really loved this book what a great story. A woman’s sister and brother-in-law due in a car accident and she has to take care of her niece and she is a mess with it all and contacts her best friend from college who drops everything to be there for them. It’s a great story one that I can reread in the future.
